Have to agree about Too Far being more representative of the album that SKOB. But I think my choice would have been Did It Again or Breathe for lead single.

I love some kind of bliss but I agree too far represented the album better. Breathe is brilliant,, sometimes I think limbo might have been a good lead single. Too far sometimes feel it was best suited to a great album track.

15. Things Can Only Get Better - 8.166

We say goodbye to the last of the "Rhytjm of Love" era now with Things Can Only Get Better in at #15. Written and produced by Stock Aitken and Waternan, the song was briefly considered for a possible 5th single with remixes commissioned, but the idea was scrapped when Kylie wanted to move onto her next album. One of the remixes later ended up as a b-side to her later single 'What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before)' & more of its remixes ended up on the special edition re-release of her 'Rhythm of Love' album in 2015. The song was performed live for the first time on her 'Anti Tour' in 2012 which was part of Kylie's K25 celebrations.

If they did decide to go with a 5th single from 'ROL' then this would have made a great choice, but it wasn't needed as the 4 from that album were perfect enough. This is a great uplifting dance anthem with cool electric guitars sprayed all over the top-notch production, along with lyrics about life and growing up, everything about this has that feel good vibe to it. The melody are strong set against the funky techno beats which gives this fantastic number that extra kick. On the whole just a great 90's dance/pop number nothing more, nothiing less.
Things Can Only Get Better is yet another great track, i do prefer enjoy yourself and im over dreaming over you to iit but its still great, im half expecting im over dreaming over you to be out next.

14. Miss A Thing - 8.208

We finally lose one of the "Disco" album tracks at #14 with Miss A Thing, meaning that 'Light Years' is the only album to have all of its tracks still in the running, but for how long?. Kylie teased the title of the song on the behind the scenes shoot of 'Magic' on TikTok & was co-written by Kylie herself and Ally Ahern, and its producers Teemu Brunila and Nico Stadi. Lyrically, the song talks about an interaction with a love interest, and wanting to experience a moment in time with them, which inadvertently related to the COVID-19 pandemic of the time. Kylie first heard the demo for this in February of 2020 and loved it, feeling like it fitted the brief for the 'Disco' album & was due to fly to L.A. to record it, but of course the pandemic happened and she ended up working remotely with its producer Teemu & got really stressed about getting the vocals right, which thankfully she eventually did.

WHY WASN'T THIS A SINGLE!, anyway forget about my rant as this a fabulous number which opens with cool crisp disco/pop sounds and Kylie's soft and sensual vocals slinks into the track with such ease. A sexy chilled out number full of class and style, as well as showing some fantastic songwriting skills by Kylie herself on this sophisicated yet cool number that blends perfectly into its surroundings on the album. This was one of my top picks upon the album's release & still love it to this day.
Miss a Thing and Things Can Only Get Better both wonderful but in different ways.

13. Disco Down - 8.25

Just as 'Disco' lost its first song in the previous position, now "Light Years" finally loses a track at #13 with Disco Down. Written and produced by Johnny Douglas, the song showcased a more modern disco sound, while also embodying synthpop and electronic styles. The song was praised by both fans & critics, and was also briefly considered to be the album's 4th single in Australia, after her label over there Mushroom Records wanted it released, but were presuaded against it by Parolophone. Like many of Kylie's lost gems the song finally got its first live performance on her Anti Tour in 2012 which celebrated 25 years of Kylie's career in the music industry.

One of the many prime examples of quality tracks on 'Light Years', such an amazing album & this is easily one of its shining moments. This futuristic disco number builds & bulids until that stunning chorus, it has that 70's throwback feel yet at the same time sounds very modern thanks to its stellar production. Everything about this number works, down to the funky grooves, pulsating rhythms & Kylie's vocals which soars over the mammoth production beautifully. No wonder this became an instant fan fave uoon the album's release, its simply magnificent and still holds up rather well today, despite being 22 years old.

Edited by Nina West

I love disco down and think it should have been the 4th single instead of please stay. It was also another song performed brilliantly on the anti tour.

'Sleeping with the Enemy' is one of my favourite Kylie album tracks, perhaps the greatest. It's so haunting and beautiful, the trip-hop production is slightly 'Unfinished Sympathy' and Kylie sings it perfectly. This, and the Fernando Garibay tracks, are the sound the album should have followed.

I think 'Mighty Rivers' is pleasant but I've never been wowed by it. I much prefer 'Heartstrings'.

Love the drama of 'Dreams', I think it gets the balance just right between commercial and experimental Kylie as it feels totally at home here but I could imagine it fitting in on another Kylie album too.

'Shelby 68' is a rather low-key song but I think that's part of its charm and I think the storytelling really drives the song. Surprised to see it Top 20 though.

'Enjoy Yourself' has long been a fan favourite, I enjoy it too but not to the same extent. I think it's a good precursor to the 'Rhythm of Love' album.

'Too Far' is such a dramatic change for Kylie. I could see a strong case for it being lead single as it has that same shock factor that 'Confide in Me' had before it and is a good taste of the main sound of the album. I love the frantic energy and how the song always keeps you on the edge of your seat.

'Things Can Only Get Better' could be the best album track from the PWL era for me. It would definitely have been a good 5th single, it's got a relentless, feel-good energy and a positive message.

I remember being so amazed by 'Miss a Thing' on first listen and that feeling has only strengthened since then. The slinky, seductive production is irresistible. I'd have loved it to be a single but I am quite at ease at it not being as it does have a similar vibe to 'Real Groove' and I think that was just right as a single with the Dua Lipa collaboration and the Initial Talk remix.

12. Tightrope - 8.25 (More high scores)

We have another tie here with Tightrope scoring the same as 'Disco Down', but this edged out in front due to it getting more high scores. The song was co-written by Kylie herself, alongside its producers Pascal Gabriel and Paul Statham who were also the writers on 'Your Love' another track on the album. The track didn't make the standard edition of Kylie's 8th studio album "Fever", but did appear as a bonus track on the Australian & Japanese versions of the album. It later ended up as one of the b-sides to 'In Your Eyes', alongside 'Good Like That'.
Like many tracks in this countdown 'Tightrope' was one of the songs selected from Kylie's back catalog to be performed during the Anti Tour.

I remember buying the cd single of 'In Your Eyes' just to hear this little gem, as it wasn't on the UK version of the album & heard so many fans raving about it on the forums & after finally hearing it, I wasn't dissapointed. The track kicks off with the beautifully calming opening bars before heading into a slinky catchy pop dance number with sophisicated production & a stunning chorus which soars over the beautiful melodies. This would have been a more than welcomed addition to 'Fever' more so than 'Give It To Me' (but that's just my opinion).

'Too Far' is a masterpiece, I suppose it would have been interesting to see how it would've worked as a single.

'Things Can Only Get Better' is definitely the best album track from RoL.

'Disco Down' so low :o :( I agree in hindsight I would have much preferred this as the final single from Light Years, it's potentially my favourite Kylie album track of all.

'Tightrope' is just majestic  SO should've been on the main album in place of 'Give it to Me'!

This notion of needing has held me ransom

11. Limbo - 8.291

Just outside the top 10 at the #11 spot is Limbo, which means that the last of the "Impossible Princess" era to feature here. Written by Kylie, Dave Ball and Ingo Vauk, and produced by the two latter. the song deals with frustration and feeling trapped. Before the album's release Kylie handpicked 'Limbo' as the lead single; DeConstruction were horrified with the idea of such a dark hardcore dance track to represent the album, and so persuaded Kylie to extend the recording sessions, which resulted in working with James Dean Bradfield on the track 'Some Kind Of Bliss' which was eventually chosen as the lead single, the artwork for which was chosen by Kylie for 'Limbo', which funnily enough ended up as the b-side. Since its release the song recieved favorable reviews and to date has been performed on 2 of her tours, first in 1998 on her 'Intimate and Live Tour' & on her 'KylieFever2002' where it was remixed.

Despite having 3 tracks in the top 20, sadly the 'Impossible Princess' era fell short of a top 10 placement. Well anyway this is a fantastic track with high octane drum beatt, funky guitars & relentless synths which not only makes this a very striking number, but the most aggressive track on the album. Kylie's high and twisted vocals gives the production a solid edge to it, as if you're on an acid trip, which is probably what she was going for with this. Again even this would have made a better lead single choice than 'Some Kind of Bliss', but understand why the label wanted to go with something more commercial. However it was wasted as a b-side.

Here's whats to feature in the top 10:

I'm Over Dreaming (Over You)
Light Years
Butterfly
Fever
Like A Drug
White Diamond
Aphrodite
Raining Glitter
Dance Floor Darling
Supernova

Thoughts?, Predictions? feel free to share...

Wonderful Top 10 but I honestly did not expect Raining Glitter to make it this far and beat Lost Without You from the same album.

Light Years the only album with 2 tracks placing in the final 10.

'Limbo' is wonderful! Also could've worked as a lead single to represent the album. That final note at the end, play that to anyone who dares to suggest she can't sing.

Solid selection in the top 10, although 'Raining Glitter' being among them when 'Lost Without You' isn't does feel a bit wrong.

Shame Limbo just lost out on a top 10 but it did really well, and i do sometimes think Limbo may have been a good lead single for IP. I also agree about that final note at the end, but then again there are some people who will always have a go at Kylie saying she cant sing which annoys me now alot less than it did years ago as we all know she can and her live concerts have been brilliant where she always performs live brilliantly. I much prefer Raining glitter to lost without you so im happy its done better in this.
