Now that we have all chosen our entries, what entry or what act do you hope that someone will have sent for your country?

I want someone that seldom votes for Dobago to see how they've managed to pick something.

I'd love something inspired, no matter what the direction is, I don't expect Hushkanukia or Altyr Muunilinst to explore the Dr. Peacock discography.

No matter who got Land of DW, I hope you had fun and found some gems even if your entry wouldn't have been my number 1 choice. :heart:

I do remember a lot more hate than I can see now in the Masquerade 2 thread to be fair (people 'not being satisfied' with the entries representing their nations). Maybe it was the first edition or on plug, dunno.

Just read the 2017 Masquerade thread and there was definitely a lot of 'all MY wonderful artists and they picked that' sort of thing going on.

 

I think a lot of people were disappointed with cheap/easy artists being used perhaps, because maybe it reflects that little effort has been taken to look through their entry catalogue. But then you never know, as I checked out about 30 songs from the nation I've got and a cheap choice wound up as my second favourite. I didn't pick it in the end, but I could have done if I hadn't found something I liked just a little more.

 

I suppose ultimately we're picking a song we personally like the best from the artist list we have to choose from, rather than trying to second guess a song the nation we are masquerading as might have sent themselves. Clearly, if somebody masquerading as me decides to send an Example album track or a Pixie Lott b-side then it's not exactly going to be representative, but if it's their favourite then they are welcome to go for it :lol:

I will definitely be reprimanded for my wishlist when I release it after the contest if people hate cheapness. :kink: That being said, I have sent a stunning entry from the country I have. :D

Despite 75% of my entries being cheap pop, I think most people could find at least one slightly more inspired artist in my back catalogue of entires. I’d just like it to be something I would want to listen to.

ah but looks are deceiving. Sometimes going for the cheap choice is easier bc you’d be spoiled for choice and want to save a more inspired entry for the main contest, so you’d send the cheap choice when the contest would be less sensitive to red flags.

 

Personally I’m hoping for their choice to represent them as much as it represents me, kinda like the Drag Race season 12 first runway :P

I'm honestly not that fussed, I'm always interested to see what someone else would do with my list of artists. I mean I obviously would prefer if it was an inspired choice and that it's clear some effort went into exploring different options. The only ones from my list I genuinely would be disappointed in is Bastille or WALK THE MOON.

 

 

Maybe just someone not picking Jessie Ware and the ones of mine that have been picked before? Other than that I'd be intrigued to really see what people pick for most artists!

The other two songs picked to represent Persephonia were respectively one I didn't vote for at all and one I gave my top points. So I am kind of hoping for something in between those two extremes this time. :lol:

 

I'm fine really as long as whoever got me hasn't copped out and sent Estelle or something. I don't think I've sent too many artists that feel 'disconnected' from the contest in that way (and a couple of the ones I have I am proud to have originated as Persephonia BJSC artists before they achieved wider recognition e.g. ROSALÍA x)

I won’t lie I was one of those disappointed with my representation in 2017 as it was a fairly generic pop song (by Elena who was the second entrant we ever sent so one of the last we’d have chosen to recycle) but half the fun I suppose is having a song represent you that you’d never have chosen.

 

I’d like to think if a pop country has been assigned me this time around they’d be able to find something more interesting even if its one of the guest vocalists I’ve sent rather than a producer they’ve chosen to recycle.
