I really can’t stand Dance Monkey - why does she have to sing in such such an affected baby voice?

It’s a sad song all about fame and effectively being turned into a circus act for the amusement of others. I think the way she sings it works really well with it.

No child of mine will be requesting 'Dance Monkey' :nono:

(:kink: sorry I can't stand it either - very marmite it seems)

Hate hate hate her voice with all my guts :D possibly worst vocals ever in a pop song
Dance Monkey is a great record and Tones can sing, see fab new Macklemore track for evidence. Kids of 2019 will be loving Dance Monkey in 20 years time, they loved it at my brothers 60th do asking DJ to play it, and quite right too

I actually agree that her vocals sounded fine on the Macklemore song (it's a boring song but at least a competent and "pleasant" one). Which just makes it all the more baffling that she chose to sing the way she did on 'Dance Monkey'.

I can attest to the kids loving it as it came on at Heart in Cancer Research the other day and some kids in the shop were singing along to every word. On the one hand kind of a wholesome moment. On the other hand kids need to get better taste. x

Oh and by the by there's another person cosigning that it's a terrible song... Tones And I herself. :kink:

(yes I know the context there is a bit different x)

Judging by the lack of 25s for some godawful novelty songs across the decades i guess the notion that kids and "taste" is not something one grows out of. I mean i still love Right Said Fred the song and most other kiddie faves and younger folk still stand by Mr Blobby which is way worse than Dance Monkey
