Just a note of explanation here, I mentioned elsewhere about where to place managerial changes that take place in between the football season. I have created this thread to note any changes during this period.

First topic would be Rob Edwards who has left Forest Green Rovers (League Two champions, in League One next season) to take over at Watford (who will be in the Championship) from 2022-2023. Articles below: -

Mark Kennedy named as Lincoln (League One) boss to succeed Michael Appleton. Previously assistant at Birmingham City.

Fleetwood Town (League One) have named Scott Brown as their head coach.

Sounds like Forest Green aren't particularly happy with losing their manager, and you have to understand their reasoning. It's certainly going to be a different kind of challenge for Edwards at Watford!

Very understandable from Forest Green's point of view.

I was thinking that this could backfire on Watford. They have a manager who has been successful at League Two, not tested at League One let alone the Championship.

For Edwards, there is also the swift turnaround in managers that Watford have had under the ownership of the Pozzo family.

Hasn’t any manager figured out by now that joining Watford makes you a worse manager in the long run! It’s fatal going there to manage a team under their current hierarchy. Pity that he will only be given a few months at most before he is sacked and unable to find work elsewhere.

As for other premier league sides… Burnley will be the first to appoint a permanent replacement to replace Mike Jackson. It seems very likely they will be in the premier league for another season.

I suspect that Wolves and Southampton will move for new managers early in the next season too.

Brendan Rodgers is another who might begin looking over his shoulder at Leicester soon if things don’t improve there.

I’m sorry but I am baffled by Watford appointing the FGR manager next season, a bold move and I would love him to do well but with their record of sackings (it’s why they got relegated this season imho) I can’t see anything else especially if he has a poor start. Personally if I were him I would have enjoyed the challenge of League one for FGR for the first time in their history. There will be some difference in managing all the internationals at Watford in comparison to Forest Green.

I’m not sure Southampton and Wolves need new managers they have done as well as you could expect in the past few years.

For Rob Edwards there is no way that he, or any similar manager, rejects Watford. When the opportunity to take a job like that comes up you simply have to take it. There is a risk from both sides but from Watford's point of view, their usual method has failed quite spectacularly recently so it makes sense to try something different, and the pool that they'd usually pick from has got smaller recently due to post-Brexit work permit restrictions.

From Edwards' point of view, the job at Forest Green in League One is already much harder, their best two players have just joined or about to Championship clubs on frees. He's the flavour of the month now but there's no guarantee he still will be in 6-12 months time for an opportunity to make such a big jump when one comes available. There's a huge drive in the lower leagues to appoint young coaches and many of them look promising - Rowberry, McKenna, Manning recently and Taylor, Duff, Bonner before them, loads of very good competition for when the next team wants to dip down to hire someone successful. And then you consider the financial point of view, Rob Edwards had an ok playing career but he didn't make Premier League millions. A Watford salary will be ~10x a Forest Green one. If he's successful it's a huge achievement and if he is gone by Christmas then I'm sure there will be another League 2 job available for him
