I’m reading the comments on The Guardian and it’s obvious from her responses that the meaning of Tiny Riot has completely gone over her head.

Guardian don't think so  I like how they criticised the "non-sensical lyrics" of Tiny Riot while praising Space Man when the first line is "If I was an astronaut I'd be floating in mid-air". Anyway basically the consensus is "safe debut" and "impossible to dislike Sam".:

Guardian - 2/5

Times - 3/5

Irish Times - 3/5

Evening Standard - 3/5

Metro - 3/5

NME - 4/5

We she did reply to (presumably your) comment

Yes, it’s a good conceit that carries through the rest of the song really well. Any one line looks silly in isolation.

“Even basic sense can be hard to come by: “if butterflies can use their wings to turn the wind to hurricanes / You and I can break the chains”.

That's actually a very clever lyric, actually makes sense better than half the songs in the charts these days

The Guardian can do one our Sam is lighting up London, Liverpool and New York! :magic:

I like all the songs but I think my favourites are Put A Light On Me, OK and Crashing Down (honorable mentions are More and Tiny Riot from the EP).

I think Sam will smash it. Gonna predict 50k and no1 for first week! Album sounds amazing too. Best thing out in Q4 By a long shot.

Haha I like your positivity :cheer:

I like Sam, but there’s not a chance his numbers will be that high! I’d guess around 25k at the most.

All The Way Over has climbed +25 on iTunes to #18 today. He was on BBC Breakfast but I am surprised it's been floating around for so long since Strictly.

Really enjoyed the album! ‘Deep Blue Doubt’, ‘Ten Tons’ and ‘Put A Light On Me’ are the standouts for me but there’s not a song I don’t like really. I hope something on the album catches on and becomes a hit to give the album a bit of longevity.
The album is currently #8 in the world on iTunes :cheer: Hopefully this means it’s high in the UK (sorry if I jinx that Sam)
its a solid album, the highs of it like ok, put a light on me and all the way over are absolutely brilliant but some songs are a bit filler-y. hope it does well for him!

It would be lovely for the album to perform well for him.

He has waited so long for success.

He keeps saying on insta that he’s really close to #1

He started saying that over a week ago and I think it’s a bluff to get more physical sales.

He’s on This Morning next week but unfortunately not with his best pal Phil (if you know, you know). -_-

I’m going to repeat what I said a few days ago and I think his team planned far in advance for bulk iTunes, Amazon, HMV, album shows, store bundles, etc. which are worth ££££. The promotion was done over time to encourage people to buy multiple copies for tour tickets, meet and greets and gigs to buffer inevitable low streaming. I don’t think he’s that worried about it because he was at the Capital Jingle Ball with Sigala last night.
  1. Amazon CD (unsigned) - #3 (#1 best seller in pop; hovered around #14-#22 last week)
  2. Amazon Blue Vinyl (signed) - #17 (#53 last week; high as #11)
  3. Amazon Vinyl (unsigned) - #384 (#1500+ last week)
  4. ITunes - #2 behind NOW Christmas (#1 on debut but Chloe jinxed it).
In addition to This Morning, he recorded a 1 hour show with Virgin Radio to talk about his album and hopefully more BBC promotion next week.

Oh he said at the Jingle Ball (third time now) “My album came out yesterday and you know what it feels really good, it’s looking good and I really think we have a shot at number 1 so everyone please buy my record haha”

That’s a normal strategy for most artists though? They haven’t done anything unique but he is of course putting in huge effort (3 signings yesterday followed by a performance at G.A.Y).

I really hope he pulls in the numbers, he has a sizable fanbase and lots of goodwill behind him I’m just not sure if he has the kind of fanbase that will buy 10 copies of the album though.

 I know Eurovision fans that have bought 10 copies of the album and own everything he’s ever released! 💿 If he needed more sales he could add a limited colour vinyl and the same people would buy it. Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes if he’s doing non-album gigs during release week but it’s definitely not sleeping. He said he spoke to Olly Murs who said he’s going on holiday to recover :P

He did one signing in Westfield London yesterday.

For those interested, apparently the album has already sold 15k and is 10k ahead of sza at no2 so likely to outsell Olly Murs first week sales!!
