I suppose her lack of touring/hardly any promotion had a lot to do with it and her music is too arty to fit their playlists.
I was more shocked to discover earlier this evening that she's never charted higher than #28 even on the albums chart in the US! ('Hounds Of Love' re-entered there this week, a new peak for that album and matching 'The Red Shoes' for her highest career peak, hopefully it'll go higher next week).

 

Similarly shocking to how ABBA never had a top 10 album in the US prior to 'Voyage'.

But I also know that Boney M never made big in US...how I know that is because my hubby had no clue who they were when I play their songs!!! I couldn't believe it at first but then I did research and found out that their biggest hit was Rivers Of Babylon and that only peaked #30!!!

Would be great if this can end up getting a proper chart revival off the back of RUTH(ADWG)'s slayage. Hopefully the producers of Stranger Things end up using it, or if they have to stick to her 80s material Cloudbusting I'd also love to see a revival of, even if just as justice for the Just Us dance remix of it never taking off.
Id love to see wuthering heights take off again, its a masterpiece of a song but i am enjoying seeing Kate back in the charts and at least one of her songs becoming known to younger audiences.

Wow, a massive jump from yesterday for Kate - she's actually not that far off doing 2x Harry's streams now! A good sign that it could be hanging around near the top of the chart for a little while. Great to see 'Wuthering Heights' re-entering as well <3 (also just seen that Kate has finally hit #1 on global Spotify for the first time!)

 

Yay for LF SYSTEM resuming their quick climb after the slight setback yesterday. Post Malone/Doja Cat also re-entering the top 10 today, back up to #9 - nearly all of the Posty album tracks have climbed today.

At this point I think we can reasonably expect to see Kate making official #1 when the ST finale is released in July especially as the song is supposedly getting used again.

I don't watch Love Island but both Words and Mixed Emotions seem to have appropriate lyrics for Love Island so I am hopeful they will get played on the programme.

It would be so deserving if it could happen, such a shame they didn't get a reset and it would be cruising it's way to number 1.
