You know I find myself changing my mind about this song the more that I hear it. It's actually a really good song for radio

. Rob's voice is fabulous.

Thanks for this Alex, I love knowing the background to his songs ..

I like the song a lot, 20 years ago it might have topped the charts. It is sad that these days the music taste has changed a lot.

In addition when you see the machinery behind new releases of Adele and Beyonce which for me are both very average albums it really seems that the time Rob can chart is over.

He needs some kick ass publicity to be really back in the game, like his song to be used in a netflix series like Kate Bush, a collaboration with BTS or a tiktok sensation.

Otherwise the younger public will not buy in and the 40plussers are unfortunately not that interested and virulent to create hits.

Despite there is a lot about todays Rob I don't really like - especially that he can hardly be serious and speak about his music in interviews - I always feel sad for this waste of talent when it comes to results these days

Really liking the new song. It got the same kind of vibe as ‘Feel’ which has always been my favourite Robbie track.

I know it's frustrating but it's not going to change but at least he is still putting new music out there . The promo is not great but I guess that's the decision that he has made , he makes his money doing the big gigs . I suppose the last big spend for a video was for Party Like a Russian where they must have thrown a whole heap of money at that video but even with that he does not do a lot of promo anymore .

I was listening to this video during the week ( see below ) which he did not 2020 & where he introduced some of the songs he was working on & some that have made it on to albums ( Lufthaus ) , there are actually some very promising tracks on there , it's worth going through it & having a listen .

Lost is a grower Elisabeth & I think will sound amazing live , I started out being iffy about it but it's growing on me.

It definitely is a grower , Rob's voice sounds really good .

I understand this Syd, and I am happy that he still puts music out. But somehow I feel that he has lost far more appeal to people during the years than other big artists of the time when he was big. Like you mention in another thread, U2 as example.

I still think he needs not even a big video. This will also not change things. He needs one of these huge collaborations. Coldplay did it, Elton John. I had assumed he would do one with Brittney but now it is Elton John doing it. He needs a kick start and i don't believe he can do it by himself anymore.

I mean, he will always have his certain audience, but even this audience has decreased quite a lot

It is a good song in my opinion. It gives melancholic, but still warm feeling, with a bit of resemblence to some Coldplay melodies. I believe it will do well live. And it follows the greatest hits album theme perfectly.

In his interview with Chris Heath recently he gave very little away apart from listing what projects he had in mind . I find a lot of the time the person doing the interviews never asks the right questions & that's a fact, really pi***s me off , It's all 'very safe' , makes me wonder is that where his headspace is these days 'in a safe place'.

I would love to see him do a collab & the ideal for me would be Taylor Swift , maybe it will happen

I get what you're saying Elisabeth -I think he picks and chooses what he wants to do nowadays.

It's very hard for me to be able to compare him to others though - because I don't follow anyone else the same way I follow him so I don't know the extent that others are working or producing music. I understand what you mean about falling popularity - I perceive that too but then the only proof will be how the album performs and how the tour/promo sells. That will be interesting to see.

Re the new single -it's good - I love his voice especially the falsetto bit -that really is beautiful - I prefer the verses to the chorus. I bought it on iTunes today and then found out I already had it on Amazon. And I've still got nothing to listen to the album on when it arrives -I have no CD player now. :o

He's on Heart London tomorrow -I'm guessing it will be phoned in though -he won't actually be there - we'll see. ^_^

There's no point in wasting money on a video these days =anyone over the age of 30 is wasting their time in the charts.

It's just the way UK music is.

I think if the radio stations give him a chance though =he could get airplay with it. I think it's quite radio friendly.

Sometimes it's a bit of luck with a hit, remember Candy ( SBW album ) over 100ml hits on YT & 43k comments , young people loved it for many reasons. I think I remember you saying Elisabeth that it was popular on Tik-Tok

I guess they will not spend the money on a decent video for the GH album

I agree about it being radio friendly Laura .

Heart London played it today.

I don't know what it's called -the falsetto bit - is it the bridge?

i LOVE that bit

Only few more weeks now to album release date, looking forward to listening to same :)
I can't wait to hear 'Into the silence' on the XXV. The song has so much potential and could fit very well with the orchestra.
