This might be the first Kylie album I don’t buy. I’m seriously thinking about cancelling my preorder as really not into this era at all. I know I’m probably in the minority on this site but my other half feels the same too. Will be interesting to see how it performs as Olivia Rodrigo has sold a lot less in the Monday update than I expected first week so those first week sales might not be as high as many are expecting.

Neil - totally fair. At the end of the day, its your hard earned money and you use it judiciously.

 

Reg sales : yes, it's almost 3 yrs since Disco, since the pandemic when people were at home and had more money to spend. So it'll be intresting to see waht her sales are like. I still feel when it comes to 1st week sales, she can match an Olivia or Ariana (maybe not a Taylor) as she has a loyal fanbase who buy albums (vs younger gen artists' fans who mostly stream) so I still say she'll do 50K'ish. But again, we'll see.

Maybe a comment on the song quality or video etc. but overall statement just sounds like a moan with no insights or rationale versus another era etc.

The sales aspect will be interesting but Kylie has shown how solid/consistent her BMG studio albums have been 48k opening for Golden and 55k for Disco - yes more may have been sold for Disco due to lockdowns and the chart battle but it was still on par with Golden’s opening.

 

I think artists that appeal to the ‘pink pound’ buying public seem to be more immune to sales downturns due to what’s happening in the economy.

also looks like Kylie & BMG have gone down the ageism (not a bad thing) promo route today. Lots of media outlets picked up on the story which is great, should be a chance to see the 2 videos on News channels / online etc

Hopefully the listening parties work, maybe kylie will have pre recorded videos that will be used even in the opening of each listening party.
