Tension i guess is 7 or 8 and now behind Lana Del Rey.....

BMG look happy to let it slip this week. Can it stay top 10 though?

I was quite surprised to see Lana push ahead as I assumed it was a limited vinyl release or something.

It seems to be a standard vinyl reissue rather than being limited - it’s between £30-37 though but like Kylie she has a stronger collector/physical buying fanbase.

Tension is #7 in today's midweeks by the way. The Weeknd at #8.

I say this purely in a matter of fact chart stats way! - Tension is on track to be her biggest decline from #1 in the album chart.

01-01 Kylie (Note: Her debut reached #1 in its 7th week in the chart, and stayed on top for 4 consecutive weeks. Then it added another 2 weeks at #1 in its 19th & 20th week on sale)

01-01 Fever

01-02 Aphrodite

01-02 Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection

01-03 Enjoy Yourself

01-03 Greatest Hits

01-04 Golden

01-05 Disco

01-(Midweek 07) Tension

I suppose it's simply a sign of the times. 01-07 can be considered as being "not too bad" in 2023 ( http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=262641 )

Times really have changed... Kiss Me Once had first week sales of 29,251 to be #2 in 2014, it then fell to #8 in the second week with 12,838 sales. Tension's first week sales are 53,237 but its second week is on course to be considerably below Kiss Me Once's second week. Maybe even lower than Kiss Me Once's third week sales? (6,769, at #13), although I'm not sure what Tension is likely to sell this week.

The incredibly frontloaded nature of new albums these days isn't to my liking, but in the words of Celine Dion, that's the way it is...

Remember that we have a topic for her wine!

Reminds me of the UK singles chart of late 90s and early 00s. Debut high with high sales and then free fall 2nd week, or have considerably lower sales unless you're flavour of the month

I guess BMG will be happy with top 10 this week and maybe a new vinyl next week to prop it up

A bit like the singles charts campaign, however albums are more costly!!

She does have other album reissues and promo like An audience so I am sure BMG have plans , but week 2 sales may have scared them

I am still surprised tension is likely to have dropped outside the T5 after 1 week. That is disappointing when sales are not particularly high. I think in the long run, it is very unlikely to match the sales of the previous two albums and may struggle to even reach 100k in total. Disco was released during lockdown when we didn’t have a cost of living crisis and the market has shrank further since then.
It has discounts, Xmas sales yet to add and new versions etc. Pretty sure it will probably do 100k this year

In my mind I always thought it'd be borderline top 5 second week anyway, so if it's a place or two below that it's more or less what I expected.

I think it'll have absolutely no trouble clearing 100k by the end of the year. We've got the Audience With in December coming up too.
