Posted July 7, 20223 yr Dunno if there's already been a poll for these, but here goes anyway. Which is better 'Here And Now' or 'You'll Be Sorry' - both of which featured on Steps's 3rd studio album 'Buzz' & both remixed for their joint releases as the final single from that album in June 2001, where it peaked at a respectable #4 continuing their run of top 5 hits with decent first week sales of 51,000, which was on par with the album's other singles, (this actually sold more than 'Stomp' in its first week, which debuted at #1). The release came 5 months after their last single, which was their longest gap between releases in 3 years. This was due to them promoting the album in Europe & America. However by this point the album had long fallen out of the UK charts & this release did help it rebound in the charts. 'Here And Now' was chosen after the group's official website ran a poll asking the fans what they wanted as the next single, although apparently 'Never Get Over You', but management opted towards the former presuming that fans would gravitate more towards 'Here And Now' as one of the album highlights & the fact that it had Andreas Carlsson as one of the song's writers propbably infleunced they're decision, he had helped create some of the biggest pop songs at the time such as "Britney Spears - Born To Make You Happy'", "Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way" & "N'Sync - Bye Bye", so having him work with Steps was a pretty huge deal at the time & Jive records weren't about to let that go to waste. 'You'll Be Sorry' was released alongside 'HAN' due to it coming after its counterpart in the poll, but in my opinion both tracks were more than deserving of being elevated to single status in their own rights. However I can't help but feel that this track got short-changed, as while both were remixed for their releases, the other song sounded more polished with its Q-Street Mix, but The Pardon Mix took away more than it gained by chopping it down & honestly the album version is far better in my opinion. Plus the other track had a far better video, while this was rather underwleming, making this fabulous track feeling like an afterthought. Think I've rambled on long enough, so which is your fave out of the 2 'Here And Now' or 'You'll Be Sorry', choose in the poll above. -jwJ4GcsOPs FB-0OadQcjE
July 7, 20223 yr When they released Here and Now/You'll Be Sorry is when I really started getting into Steps. I recently went through Buzz and did a ranking of all the tracks (Buzz is my #1 Steps Album and in my Top 15 Albums of all time) but I gave both 11s. I voted for Here and Now, it's just a hair above YBS.
July 7, 20223 yr Here and Now by a country mile. Easily one of Steps best singles and one I still listen to every week. Absolutely love the single version.
July 8, 20223 yr I like both of these, I preferred You’ll Be Sorry at the time but Here & Now has just about matched it now for me.
