The most noticeable change is the organ which is more hollow, but the bassline and kicks are also slightly different in volume

I'm wondering if it's to do with sample clearance then? If the organ has changed maybe it was too similar to the original so in order to offset it they had to change the beats too

I said during BJSC, once BOTA became a chart hit, it would suddenly grow on a lot of people who didn't vote for it or gave it little points in BJSC. Maybe it being deemed the runaway winner by many made people want to vote for it less. It's clearly a very instant song seeing how fast it's blown up, so I found it bizarre how many people SNUBBED it who I thought would vote for it (the dance bloc surprisingly let it down a lot except for Dan). And now the people who snubbed it are calling it great and charting it on their personal charts etc...

 

BOTA was robbed periodt!

Could be! Looking at the credits only Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal are credited and not the writers of the sampled song

Yeah sample clearance would be my guess (similar to the Shygirl example Doctor B mentioned). Good thing I wasn't mega attached to the original so probably won't notice the difference :kink:

I gave it 11 points at the time but certainly would bump it up now. I think with BJSC we are limited to a time period of voting for a song and when something is new to us perhaps it doesn't resonate quickly enough for it to build up voters and points. I'm not surprised people have done u-turns and are loving it now as it perhaps isn't an instant song that grabs attention from the off. It's everywhere on TikTok and radio now so the increased exposure helps build up a listener base over time.

I'm just salty :kink: I can understand what is instant for some may be a grower for others.

For what it's worth I've been relistening to my highlights from the last BJSC and also just relistened to this and although it's grown on me a bit I'm still not sure I'd have voted for it even now oop. Maybe 1 or 2 points at a push. :ph34r:

 

I am quite pleased to see it doing so well though and am here for it to go to #1 just because it's great representation for female electronic artists (and it's still better and more interesting than most other dance music in the charts even if I'm not quite going crazy for it).

It's kinda annoying that Interplanetary Criminal is often ignored (I know he's not the one doing the vocals or showing up in the official images). I mean, he is equally credited.
