I appreciate it's probably different I guess, it just doesn't hit me and I've listened to it several times. I'm just not one for minimalist dance songs but I'm happy to see a female producer do well, I always forget how under represented females are in the dance genre (outside feature vocals)

B.O.T.A’ is a supremely fun, suave, 4×4 anthem with plenty of swagger and flirtatious lyrics that permeate your mind. It’s oozes just the right dose of playful, future nostalgia to entice you into Eliza’s mischievous world.

 

Its music video celebrates the LGBTQ+ performance community, the spaces and characters that make it, and who defy the gentrification of the area.

It's a very good song but what in the Mabel press release is this x

There are quite a few female (/non-binary) producers making great electronic music right now - HAAi, TSHA, I. JORDAN, Kelly Lee Owens etc. (i.e. half of the current Doctor Blind/Kath core artists). Bubbling below the mainstream of course but hopefully we'll see a few more making some kind of breakthrough some time. It does seem like dance music in the charts is as much of a sausagefest as hip-hop if not even moreso.

First BJSC song to hit the charts not long after being in the contest since Topic (unless there's something even more recent that I'm forgetting). I'm pleased to see it doing so well though. A bop indeed *.*

finally switched the order of Harrys tracks so now Late Night Talking is track #10 and As It Was is low top 30

so Harry is one of the few names that Spotify supports post-album singles

Happy for Eliza, a great summer hit, reminds me of happy memories of the 1999-2002 era indeed, with a sprinkling of the mini garage/bassline revival in the late 00s courtesy of T2 and H20.

 

It's super infectious, such slick production and I love the vocal. I'm still amazed it didn't steamroll BJSC, let alone not win it at all, one of the biggest sounding songs I've heard in a long time. It will be one of my favourite chart hits of the year for sure.

Interesting to see where it is in the update tonight but still holding out hope that this can make a top 20 debut officially!

It's much lower on Spotify so I doubt it'll be particularly close to the top 20 this week. I'm sure it'll probably become a big hit later though. (I will restrain myself from moaning about this as I've not heard it yet but probably a safe bet that I won't be a fan lol)
