  • Virgin Music Group shouldn't be confused with Virgin Records. They are two completely different entities. Virgin Music Group isn't a record label; it just acts as a distributor for independent record

Let's look on the bright side: it's been 1,062 weeks and counting since the last Geri Halliwell album.

Looking more closely at the credits -

Theo Hutchcraft:

1. Sweat (+ Paul Jabara, Diana Ross, Raymond L Chew, Sean McDonagh, Dominc Joshua, Alexander Liu)

5. Pressure (+ James Greenwood)

Theo is best known for being the lead singer in Hurts, and has worked as a songwriter with Calvin Harris, Måneskin and Louis Tomlinson. James Greenwood has worked with artists such as Alison Goldfrapp, Daniel Avery, Foxes and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Jonathan Christopher Shave + Sam Harper:

2. Drum Machine

Better known as Jon Shave, he notably produced quite a few songs on Charli xcx - Brat. In recent years he's worked with artists including Jessie Ware, Zara Larsson, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sugababes and Louise.

Klas Åhlund + Linnea Södahl

3. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

10. Cashmere

Klas Ahlund is particularly well known for working with Robyn, and he has also worked on hits by artists such as Charli xcx, Katy Perry and Kesha. Linnea Södahl has worked with artists including Zara Larsson, Loreen and Benjamin Ingrosso.

Adam Novodor + Violet Skies

4. Til It Breaks

11. Free To Love

Adam Novodor credits include Charli xcx, Troye Sivan and Rebecca Black, while Violet Skies wrote and produced on several tracks from Lily Allen's latest album West End Girl.

Oscar Scheller

6. Emotional Memory

7. Attitude (+ Leroy Burgess, Aaron T. Davenport)

8. Good For Nothing

Oscar also worked with Lily Allen on West End Girl, and his other credits include Asnikko, PinkPantheress, Charli xcx, Shygirl and Rina Sawayama. Seeing as he has the most songs on the album, I wonder if any of these are lined up to be a future single?

Glen Joseph Roberts + Luis Navidad

9. Undefeated Champion

Glen credits include AURORA, Rachel Chinouriri, Joy Crookes and Olivia Dean, while Luis Navidad has notably worked with Skye Newman, an artist who had several hits last year.

Sam de Jong + Michael Matosic

12. One Track Mind

Rosie May Hudson-Edmonds, Carline Sans + Anna-Catherine Hartley

13. Flick Of The Wrist

Rosie and Anna-Catherine are better known as the artists Rose Gray and Uffie, respectively!

Thanks Jay. Some impressive credits for sure.

So far though, it's all been a bit meh... I wish she would push herself more, specially with all these incredible creatives. The production is better since she changed her team during the VOM era and Melanie C album era, but clunky chorus like the WCPGW one, denote not much evolution from her part specifically. The production is there, but the lyrics are lacking as hell...

WCPGW's lyrics are fantastic. It's like the little brother of Think About It.

The album shapes up to be quite varied and eclectic in its sound.

Based on the credits for Attitude, it appears to sample or interpolate a ’70s or ’80s song. I do wonder why Clementine Douglas doesn’t appear in the credits, since Melanie has recently confirmed her involvement in the song.

'Sweat' Amazon variant vinyl is currently #1 on Amazon's vinyl store and #2 in their overall music chart... and is still available... which seems surprising if there's only 500 copies? thinking

This album roll out has been a drag. It needed to be much more concise. Her team should be releasing new content every few weeks to keep fans engaged. Three months in-between single releases doesn’t work for Melanie when she doesn’t get much radio airplay or added to streaming playlists.

Something along the lines of this would have been much better.
