    Shocking news

  • He certainly does deserve a lot of credit but to see him lift the trophy in a parade would be very John Terry Champions League final 2012 🤣

  • Don't think they would win it myself! Way too many new players to have to hit the ground running all at once.

That’s us very short in defence now at least until January!

I think we are fine. Virgil, Leoni, Konate, Gomez, Kerkez, Bradley, Frimpong, Robertson. Then Endo and Gravenberch can play there in an emergency too. It's certainly annoying as he is quality, but we have loads of cover. Suppose we don't have a million CBs like Arsenal do though.

Jammy gits the red men have been today!

Not at all Steve, not having that. Burnley defended OK (all very last ditch) but their xG was 0.19. We absolutely bossed and dominated them. Well worth the 3 points.

True, I read we had 81% possession but we didn’t create much. You get that though with the players we have compared to Burnley we should have created more outright chances.

Would you drop Kerkez and bring in Robbo again next week?

I think these sorts of games are slogs though, Burnley played 4-5-1 for most of the game. I think we had 10 blocked shots or something like that. It's hard to create against a team which is just playing not to concede - look at how England struggle against the likes of Andora recently!

Think Robertson and Kerkez will just share minutes, one will start vs Athletico and the other will against Everton. I don't think Kerkez played badly, he got a silly booking and was one challenge away from being sent off. This was the first of 3 games in 6 days - Slot will just manage minutes.

Good win for Liverpool, the derby is always difficult!

3 wins in 6 days - all you can ask for really. You could tell after 35 minutes we dropped off physically, but expected after a tough game midweek.

Yeh and we always have a derby at 12.30 on a Saturday after a champions league fixture!

To have 6/6 playing Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle away, plus a really well managed Bournemouth team and Burnley away, with all those new players in key areas, and all the pressures of being champions with a cheque book, Liverpool have done excellently. This is a proper team.

There's no doubt about it, we're in a serious muck. We've been through these periods recently under Klopp too in 2021 and 2022/2023 as well. The problem is at the moment, I am genuinely not sure what Slot is trying to do. There is a real problem with our pressing and we cannot defend set pieces at all. We've had an unfortunate period of away games, but he is really under pressure now. I wouldn't be concerned if I could tell you what he was doing tactically, but I can't as we don't have the players for how he wants to play (weirdly, I do think Guehi would solve a fair few of our issues).

Going to be a long season, when it rains it pours. Problem is, I'm not sure we have hit rock bottom yet!

Make no mistake about it, Slot wanted to lose that game. I don’t agree with it, but I also think he wanted that game gone. Cups are always a difficult one as only one team can win them, but that two legged tie is a brutal.

Just adds heaps of pressure to him now for the next week.

This would be my starting 11 for the reds every game without taking in injuries:

Allison

Frinpong Gomez Virgil Robbo

Gravenberch McAllister

Szbozslai

Wirtz ekitike Gapko

Steve you're funny, not that long ago you were saying this...

Would be very happy with Wirz-Isak-Salah as a front three!

Yeh but Isak hasn’t been fully fit and instead of starting him and taking him off after 60 mins he should start the form man Ekiteke and bring Isak on for the final 15 mins to get up to fitness.

Wirtz also looked a lot better on the right in Europe so would start him there.
