And you have nothing good to say about your star man Mo Salah after you were wishing for him to sign his contract extension in the Summer... once a beacon of hope, now a shadow of his former self? Isn't it a bit too early to write off his starting place at this stage of the season? All creativity last season came through him... and this is what he's become now. Where's "keeping the faith" in a player of his talent?

    Shocking news

  • He certainly does deserve a lot of credit but to see him lift the trophy in a parade would be very John Terry Champions League final 2012 🤣

  • Don't think they would win it myself! Way too many new players to have to hit the ground running all at once.

He's still an excellent player, the issue is we don't have Trent who was our creative player, not Salah and now we have nobody at the back who can play progressive passes. It's why we wanted Guehi and why as daft as it sounds, I think that is a total screw up from Richard Hughes.

The issue is less with the personnel and more with the system, all of our issues are tactical. Nearly all the goals we are conceding are from set pieces or from teams hitting us on the transition when we hold on to the ball for too long. It's fine, these things happen from time to time, it's up to Slot to work things out.

Basically what Rooney said, did you not see his goal at the weekend.

You United fans do become quite boisterous after a few wins, don’t you

After all the ribbing yous have given us the past few seasons you have to expect a bit back now :P

Comes around and goes around! I just think problems of our demise are way over the top. It's clear we have some issues at the moment (and I am not entirely convinced by Slot's systems, which he seems wedded to). But we have too many good players to not make it work. People forget while we have had success, we also had barren months under Klopp where we looked absolutely hopeless. City went through a similar spell last season. It also hasn't really helped that we have had so many away games in this spell either. We have two home games in a row now, so let's see where we are in a weeks time.

Trent was basically a cheat code for how we played and we haven't worked out how to adapt yet. Interested to see whether we buy in January - personally, I think a centre back is a must, purely for how we want to build up play from the back.

Exactly! I mean here on Buzzjack you've got a thread called "Man United supporters thread" and it's got lots of anti Man United posts showing delight at our misfortunes which completely goes against the original concept of the thread! "Man United discussion thread" would be a more apt title I think personally.

When you grew up in the 90s and 00s there is a reason why lots of people take great pleasure in the Man Utd misfortune. The same reason why I suspect people who grew up in the 80s have a distaste for Liverpool! Enjoy the good times, as they soon end fast :D

I sometimes forget people aren’t all my age (42). I literally started following football in the 1991-92 season when I was 7-8 yo and ubtil I was 31 man United won the league 13 times. So you can understand my dislike of United as a Liverpool fan and also I do think there’s a lot more ABU out there, why, I’m not sure.

There are of course other fans not my age some a lot younger who may have never saw United win the league title.

Well it won't be me, Dobbo or Houdini. I'm 39 for one thing so there's barely much difference in our ages.

Exactly the reason why you should suck it up when things go wrong for a while. You can understand why I’ve been laughing so hard over the past 14 years!

As you lot are now getting a true taste of at last... what goes up must come down.

Not true though, I think we lost 5 home games in a row in 2021 and then that 2022/2023 season was absolutely painful watching Henderson and Fabinho's legs go

A win today and we're 3rd, whilst a loss would have had us in the bottom half of the table. Fine margins! Much better today and we defended set pieces a lot better.

Yeh still looked weak through the middle but Gravenberch is such an important player to return to the midfield and McAllister showing some fight vs Onana was good to see.

After yesterdays result I am wondering whether he should go for the first time!

He's clearly the problem at the moment. A lot of our problems stem from Slot being incessant that we progress play from the back, despite having no progressive passers! We've stunk the place out since the Carabao Cup final in March since Slot tweaked things. The season is still salvagable, but I genuinely am at a loss to what he is trying to do.
