February 5Feb 5 Author Liverpool manager Arne Slot says right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Thursday. Alexander-Arnold was substituted after 70 minutes in the Premier League win at Bournemouth on Saturday with what appeared to be a thigh injury. The Reds, who won the League Cup last season in Jurgen Klopp's final term in charge, will be aiming to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Spurs when they host the second leg at Anfield. "He [Alexander-Arnold] is going to miss the [Tottenham] game," said Slot, whose side play Plymouth in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday before an away game at Everton in the league on Wednesday.
February 9Feb 9 Liverpool knocked out of the FA Cup by bottom of the Championship Plymouth! First time the gloaters come out! :D Fair play Plymouth. I only caught the last 30 minutes, but we were rubbish really. I always think in the FA Cup the likes of Liverpool/Arsenal/Man Utd/Spurs are on a hiding to nothing when you get a lower league team away from home. No easy games in this cup! Never nice to lose, but this was lowest priority, which was reflected by the squad we took.
February 9Feb 9 Yeh fair play to Plymouth, they were brilliant defensively and deserved to win. Not sure what Elliot was doing for the penalty!
February 10Feb 10 The phrase bigger fish to fry springs to mind. If you remember both 2022 and last season trying to juggling all the competitions then ending up with just the League Cup both times, you've got to prioritise league and Europe this season. Just need to beat Newcastle for the other cup anyway so going out early in this one could be a genius play.

It’s why it’s never been done before, while the 2022 season was amazing and that was imo the best chance we would ever have.. we were running on empty in the last few weeks and it clearly took a lot out of a few key players, judging by how much our press fell off a cliff the following season  Think in the next month we’re playing every 3 days.. this stretch feels season defying. We’ve got 3 tough away games and 1 hard home game in the league all within less than 3 weeks. I can totally see why Slot took the decisions he did yesterday.
February 10Feb 10 Yeh having 4 weekends free of the fa cup will be good given the other commitments - as you say Roo the next few games are massive!
February 12Feb 12 Everton score in the 98th minute to deny victory for Liverpool in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in a 2-2 draw.
February 12Feb 12 Annoying that. We played the game perfectly otherwise against those yard dogs. Michael Oliver was an absolute disgrace though. Not usually one for blaming things on referees, but he was an absolute joke. That Salah no foul at the end when he was basically threw on goal just sums up how shite he was. Tells you all you need to know too when both Ferdinand and Jagielka said they'd have wanted a foul for the equaliser too. Still a point gained, take it and move on.
February 12Feb 12 Everton should have had a penalty for that Konate handball too tbf. Oliver is a nightmare though can't disagree with that.
February 12Feb 12 Everton should have had a penalty for that Konate handball too tbf. Oliver is a nightmare though can't disagree with that. Nah was never a pen. Watch how the ball gets to Konate's hand, Beto passes it with his hand. Oliver just had a shocker. He gave Diaz fouls (rightly) twice for exactly the same thing that happens to Konate in the equaliser. He used to be the best ref, but he's completely lost it ever since that Abu Dhabi trip.
March 9Mar 9 On 07/10/2024 at 09:47, Rooney said:He’s done great so far, not sure what more we could ask for. People will say our run has been favourable (it definitely has) but people also forget that away fixture at Old Trafford is always one of our hardest fixtures. I can see signs we’re getting better with each game, but there’s also masses of improvements we need to make too. Defensively we take way less risks than we did with Klopp, so it allows us better control, albeit I think our attacking patterns suffer so it’s a catch-22. Obviously our fixtures turn now so let’s see where we end up now. Losing Allison is a big blow too which will cost us too. Like Steve, I’d be really happy with Top 4 this season, I think Slot and his team are still learning and Arsenal/City are way ahead in terms of their playing style journey. Who knows what could happen though, but the next 6-8 weeks will tell us a lot.On 07/10/2024 at 12:57, Steve201 said:The next 10 games are mental in terms of difficulty but lets hope 2 European Super League wins have put us on a good course to mix our team up in this comp over the late Nov/Dec period. On 07/10/2024 at 15:46, Liam S said:You guys seem very conservative to me Liverpool are in the title raceOn 07/10/2024 at 20:01, Rooney said: We're less than 10 games in, I've seen every game so far. Lots of positives, but think we are still lacking in some areas. Not really seen enough how we react under Slot when we concede first too. Way too early to say we're in a title race, if we're still within 3-4 points of the top by Christmas then I'd agree, but not convinced right about now.On 20/10/2024 at 18:33, Liam S said: Another win today and arsenal lost yesterday. Salah is still a level above what other teams haveOn 20/10/2024 at 20:03, Rooney said: We did well today but Arsenal are still better than us imo. What's pleasing is this team still has a lot of growth in it and even watching us today, I can see where certain additions in areas will really helps us. We certainly are taking less risks than under Klopp and managing games differently. It's pleasing, but let's see where we are by the next international break, we've some really tough fixtures. On 02/11/2024 at 17:49, Liam S said: Both Man City and arsenal lost and Liverpool won again I think you guys cannot deny you’re in the title race now. A long way to go but Liverpool look solid On 02/11/2024 at 21:32, Steve201 said:They do but aren’t convincing and your only really in a title race in March-April for me.On 03/11/2024 at 00:48, Rooney said: Agreed, there’s ages to go yet. I remember 2020-2021 where we were too at Christmas and City were turgid. We’re up there at the moment but a long way to go yet. It’s early March and all over. You guys had little faith. Liverpool better in all areas and had no real weaknesses. Salah a Ballon Dor contender and no other team had someone like that this year to make the difference when it really matters. Not even close in the end
March 9Mar 9 Of course we had little confidence, I've seen us get 97 points before and end up 2nd And Macheda popping up out of nowhere and winning Man Utd the title.I wasn't expecting us to be anywhere near the title this year and I still don't actually think we are amazing, we've certainly another 2-3 levels to go to yet. But Slot has done an absoutely amazing job taking the groundwork from Klopp. Our success is that for the most part, our sporting structure behind the scenes is so good.
March 9Mar 9 Plus every other team has dropped off massively, not to discredit Liverpool there I mean you've only lost 1 game all season but all the other big teams have had shockers by their standards. Even if you don't get another point this season you'd win the title with 70 points cos no one else is getting there!Definitely the most impressive debut season by a manager since Conte.

Even though all the other teams have had 'off' seasons, Arsenal have never got to 90 points under Arteta.

March 11Mar 11 Liverpool's Champions League hopes ended tonight by PSG! Probably the fair result over the two legs.
March 11Mar 11 They were the better team in the first leg by far and I thoight we shaded the 2nd leg in 90 minutes. We were on our feet for extra time and PSG took their pens really well. Annoying of course, but that's football. Got to take the rough with the smooth. Got a league title and cup to win now.
March 11Mar 11 Yeh PSG deserved it as far as I saw. That happens in knockout football - was always going to be a bonus the two ties this week. Let’s hope we can win on Sunday and continue our progress in the bread and butter!
