Just stunned, I can't believe it, this is shocking news to hear. RIP Diogo Jota and Andre Silva his brother.

My condolences go out to the family of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. This is very shocking and devastating news, Jota was a very good footballer and he'll be a big loss to Liverpool and Portugal. I can't remember a current Premier League player passing away before.

The first one that springs to mind is Emiliano Sala although of course he never actually kicked a ball in the prem so excluding him I'm not sure either. Must be many years ago...

Think it might have been Jimmy Davis back in 2003 who was on loan at Watford from Man United.

Absolutely mad. Found out first thing this morning and my first thought is it was one of those weird death hoax’s. So glad the football community has come together and the Liverpool statement is pure class. At the heart of this, there’s a family here which have lost their husband, children and father.

Feel so sad, puts everything in to perspective, just married and 3 young kids. No idea how a car that bursts its the ends up in flames though, pretty sure something similar happened to Reyes in Spain too.

I just remembered Marc-Vivien Foe is another person who passed away while currently playing in the Premier League for Manchester City and he was the same age as Jota. He died while playing for Cameroon in the 2003 Confederations Cup and Man City retired the number "23" which was his shirt number.

It's a further reminder that anything can happen in an instant. The effect that this will have on Jota's teammates who shared so much time with him I can't even imagine either.

I’d imagine his no20 will be retired especially fitting that was his number given they win their 20th title.

Liverpool are expected to rival Newcastle for Hugo Ekitike after being told Alexander Isak is not for sale in this window.

The Premier League champions have always been interested in Isak, but it is understood Newcastle have no interest in selling him and value him at least at £150m.

Liverpool also have an interest in Ekitike, who Newcastle have had a bid rejected for in the last 24 hours, and are set to turn their attentions to the Eintracht Frankfurt forward.
