Got away with one there against Burnley tonight.

Can't agree with that. Burnley were dreadful, Liverpool were really good. The only reason Burnley got back in the game was because they got 2nd wind from the dreadful VAR decision to chalk off the Elliott goal. Even the Gakpo disallowed goal was very soft.

  • He certainly does deserve a lot of credit but to see him lift the trophy in a parade would be very John Terry Champions League final 2012 🤣

Yeh they were massivrly up for it and thoroughly deserved to win. If anyone other than Liverpool I’m glad a team like Newcastle won it as it’s been so long!

  • Would have rathered Saudicastle don't win.. but we were awful. I've seen us lose finals before and it's part of football, but that was terrible. Newcastle fully deserved to win. Been coming, Slot has

Yeh only saw the highlights but Liverpool seemed to get all the chances but need to take them chances!
I thought both VAR calls were correct. If that's the other way you're screaming at the ref to disallow.
Feel for Elliott with that second VAR decision. Salah was literally pushed into that position…..
Yeh glad Elliot seems to be getting some goals now, he’s turning into a decent player, similar to Jones for me!

The Elliott one was criminal, the keeper was never getting there regardless and Salah was pushed in to an offside position. You just create a massive loophole if you start disallowing those.

Not controversial at all that game last nyt, thoroughly enjoyed it though. Good to see Virgil and Salah again having to prove why they are the best in the business again this season! We will certainly miss the latter in the next month and also Endo who’s become another bargain who’s slotted into the side seemlessly considering the price tag.

You can tell people are fearful of Liverpool winning the league now. Newcastle were lucky not to concede 8, yet all everyone's talking about is the penalty.

I don't think this is the case, people are more fearful of Manchester City becoming the first team to win the league 4 times in a row. This is the scenario that the general football fan would least like to see. Even now almost everyone says that Manchester City will win it. I even saw a headline on the weekend saying that it's their title to lose even though they're not currently top of the table.

Not sure I agree there, nobody really cares if it's City. For what it's worth I am not sure we will win the league, think we're a season away still, but like City, after January is usually when the Klopp teams peak.

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will miss the FA Cup third-round match at Arsenal on Sunday because of a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old Hungary international suffered the blow in Monday's 4-2 win against Newcastle United and came off after 64 minutes.

"I can confirm it's not a potential injury - it is an injury," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on Friday.

"Muscle, hamstring. But now we have to see."

Mohamed Salah will return to Liverpool for treatment on the leg injury he suffered at the Africa Cup of Nations, but Egypt are hopeful he can come back for a potential semi-final.

Salah was injured in Egypt's 2-2 draw with Ghana on Thursday in Group B.

"It makes sense that he's doing the rehab with us," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Sunday, before Egypt confirmed the forward's return.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has a "proper tear in his hamstring", says assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

Salah, 31, was replaced during Egypt's 2-2 draw with Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast on Thursday.

He watched from the stands as Egypt reached the last 16 thanks to a dramatic 2-2 draw with Cape Verde on Monday.

"It's expected [he will] return in three to four weeks if everything goes smooth," said Lijnders.

9 seasons is good innings! Guess they'll go all out for Xabi Alonso next season if he wins Bundesliga with Leverkusen.

Devastated! I thought he may resign last season and this year he's built a new team and looks to have the fire back. All good things come to an end. An amazing man and hopefully some more trophies to add to the cabinet come the end of the season. The good news is the our squad is in a much, much better place although some contracts need looking at (Trent, Virgil, Salah).

It does seem completely set up for Alonso though, which most Liverpool fans would be ecstatic with. No one can ever replace Klopp mind, and I think that's what we may struggle with for a season or two. But the main difference being when Fergie left Utd is our squad is in a much much better place than the one Moyes inherited.

I wonder if this will mean Pep will stay on at City a few extra seasons than planned as once Klopp leaves he'll have no competition for the title let's be honest.
Aye that’s us down to 7th again for a bit!

Who knows! I think we're much better set up now than we were under Rodgers. Alonso feels like the right fit and he's the coach all the top clubs will be after in 12 months time.
