Doesn't seem very appropriate, it's like if people were streaming The Stone Roses - Elizabeth my Dear

That’s exactly why they’re streaming it

I honestly don't think it's out of disrespect, I think it's from people searching 'queen dead' or something along those lines in Spotify. I'd imagine there is much more people mourning her death than celebrating it.

That’s true, though I have seen it used quite a lot on TikTok in a negative way in the last 12 hours too.

Tbh I thought the Sex Pistols’ song would enter today.

I think tomorrow it'll be a mix of both but I'd expect God Save Our Queen to be #1 and possibly #1 officially - but we'll see. I suppose listening to music isn't like Christmas or a famous musician dying lol so maybe numbers won't be what we expect them to be.

I think it would be if there weren’t a million different versions available.

When you search ‘God Save the Queen’ on Spotify the highest version (below Sex Pistols) is by The Royal British Choir, whereas on Apple it’s by The Royal Choral Society.

Would be an interesting chart if we we end up with multiple versions of the same song top 40 by next week. Who knows if inteeest in downloads etc hold up without a campaign behind it.

That version is in prominent playlists regarding the Queen so I imagine that'll help it.

When huge events like this happen theres always establishment and anti-establishment voices especially amongst social media users, its part and parcel of life.

one thing we already know is that Capaldi doesn't seem to be on the same level as Adele & Harry, both charted on Spotify on the basis of the 1st hour streams

Harry at #51 with 98K and Adele at #55 with 91K.

I think we knew that before the release anyway didn't we

did we/do we? his first era was huge, so sure there has to be some anticipation

I didn't say it wasn't huge.

However your comparison was to Adele and Harry Styles

Lewis is now #10 on Apple. Surprisingly there aren't any entries relating to the Queen's death at all so I guess that isn't looking like having much impact on the chart after all (though it wouldn't surprise me if some kind of 'official' tribute single is pushed soon). I guess interested to see Spotify's update tomorrow to see how popular their prominent playlist is.

There are also a few Apple top 100 entries from Asake's album (afrobeats artist with the current minor hit 'Terminator', appears the album dropped on Wednesday).

The fact that "I'm Good (Blue)" could be the official #1 on the day of her funeral..... ☠️☠️☠️

only a matter of time before Elton John releases a tribute single which sells bucketloads probably though unlikely to happen this week

Megadeth’s ‘The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead!’ wasn’t too far off #1 today either

Lewis #5 on Apple now
