I know she’s ridiculously incompetent and quite clueless but I can’t help but wonder if the reactions were a bit more subdued if it was a male in charge.. Everyone seems to be going for blood currently and it’s quite insane

I don't really think it's any different from the final days of Boris' premiership.

Or indeed, the first days of Boris' premiership. The whole 'not a good start Boris' thing up until he prorogued Parliament.

Truss has just done what all Tories want to do but are normally smart enough to realise is a really bad idea. If it were Kwarteng as PM and Truss as Chancellor you'd have had much the same result.

Graham Brady in with Truss right now

Coffey's in there too. Resignation for Truss and Coffey into interim (which would also be quite terrifying if in the median of terrifying replacements)? This wasn't scheduled.

I see what you getting at (ie female Big Brother contestatnts used to get the most hate) but there's no denying Truss is not only woefully incompetent but has horrific morals and lies through her teeth (she used to lie about relatives dying so she wouldn't have to do TV appearances). She quite willingly would have cut benefits to kill more vulnerable people to further enrich the wealthiest parasites in society for her personal gain. And she stokes up anti trans culture war issues (despite being Equalities cabinet minister), praising far right GB News channel as truthful and wanted to ban solar panels but introduce fracking and more fossil fuels to destory our planet.

I’m not sure gender has anything to do with it, it’s to do with her politics and leadership. You just have to look back to Boris Johnson so recently, it was exactly the same.

Most hilarious thing about ydays opposition day motion was it was called by none other than ‘chaos with Ed Milliband’!!

I don’t think her gender has anything to do with it. The problem was her policies and that she was a puppet for the ERG and their actions have undoubtedly tanked the economy and tanked the Conservative Party in the polls. I am not sure they can get that respect back, but I also feel at this point they want to revert back to what made them popular in the first place. Whether the ERG thought people wanted their “pure” version of Brexit a reality is just speculation but totally agree we have so many MPs over promoted in to prominent positions on their beliefs, rather than their experience.
Her statement suggests we’ll have a new PM within a week, which means PM Rishi by next Friday.

Would he want it? He’s quite divisive in the Party, I’m not sure that would chasten the discipline in the Party. Sounds like the ERG are completely bottle necked now though, thankfully.

Was glued to the news / Reddit last night regarding the absolute farce of Schrödinger's confidence vote. Seemed inevitable that something had to give very soon after that.

Lettuce is victorious

The lettuce has it!! And still good enough to eat.

She should have called an election.

What was happening last night to make this the day?? PMQ vs Starmer?

The vote on banning fracking which was a confidence vote in the government, then it wasn't, then it was, then it wasn't again. And MPs allegedly being physically manhandled to vote with the government.

Also Suella becoming the second of the great offices of state out within like a week.
