November 18, 20222 yr Charlene yet to do a trial, :cheeseblock: Sue's the same... in fact I think Charlene's sort of done more as she did the plank thing at the beginning. Sue has put her hands in some fisheyes... that's about all she's done
November 18, 20222 yr I think it’s a difficult position for Charlene - how would she fairly interview him on itv news in the future without people being like ‘oh he’s your bed buddy’. I suspect she is thinking about professionalism. I’m glad she is doing tonight’s trial, I hope she smashes it to shut a few folk up, and stays for at least the first elimination as a result.
November 19, 20222 yr I hope she smashes it to shut a few folk up, and stays for at least the first elimination as a result. This aged well ;) :D
November 19, 20222 yr Thank goodness she has gone, couldn't stand her before the show and couldn't stand her in it.
November 19, 20222 yr I am SHOCKED that a black female was the first person evicted from a UK reality TV show while the white guy responsible for thousands of Covid deaths is 4th favourite to win. SHOCKED!
November 20, 20222 yr *takes notes* we’re up to the point of defending Matt Hancock’s character now, got it.
November 20, 20222 yr And I think, with the British public's form, it's not unfair or ridiculous to suggest it could be about race. Personally I don't understand what's so objectionable about Charlene (although not saying anyone who does dislike her is automatically doing so because of her race) and she wasn't a background character either. Perhaps she just wasn't in most people's top 2/3/however many they vote for, but we know confident black women are the last people the public like to support sadly. Not shocked that Matt might survive for a while, he's not been unpleasant in there at all but he's clearly smart and knows exactly what to say in front of the cameras to get the public on side. Disappointed but not surprised that it seems to be working.

November 20, 20222 yr I was so glad Charlene was first to go. She, Sue, Chris and George are vile. Their bullying behaviour has been appalling to watch. I think many of the celebs in there need to remember their pasts, such as drink driving offences, locking people in their house etc. Matt has my vote to win.
November 20, 20222 yr What bullying behaviour? People on DS have said the same thing, but its rubbish. They've discussed the situation and George has even said to Matt how he feels to his face. Have they not welcomed him into the group, included him in everything and actually been encouraging and inclusive? They've spoken behind his back, so as not to rock the mood on the camp, or make him not feel included. It was seem complete bizarre had these discussions not taken place given Matt's position during the pandemic, the decision he made and the party he stands/ stood for. What bullying has actually gone on? People throw this word around on the Internet way too easily IMO. Also regarding the offences listed down in the post above - haven't they all been tried and sentenced/ paid for their crimes. Has Matt for all the excess deaths he caused as Health Secretary? Or for all the lies he peddled as health secretary backing up Johnson? Matt in himself has done the trials and got on with things - In fact as far as perceptions pre the jungle have gone, yes he has come across fairly well. But I do not understand how people can claim he is being bullied in the slightest. If anything, everyone has gone out of their way in order to make him feel welcome - which is what George was getting wound up about yesterday. Edited November 20, 20222 yr by ElectroBoy
November 20, 20222 yr They have spoken about him behind his back, that’s not acceptable. They have also made very uncomfortable viewing while doing that as well as grilling him towards the start. Yes george said to his face which is fair enough but he, sue and Chris in particular have been trying to influence peoples opinions from the start which could have lead to him being g excluded. Thankfully people like Scarlett, Owen, Seann and Baba are in there as they have been fair. He wasn’t responsible for deaths, the virus was. He did what he could. What would you have done in his shoes? Probably not a lot more. As for cheating on his wife, not ideal no, but there were no laws in place in terms of socialising, it was guidance only. Yes it was his guidance but let’s be honest, at that stage, who was actually listening to the guidance? Not many as people had had enough by that point. The crimes the others have committed have been swept under the carpet but people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. They have acted like they are holier than thou when in fact shouldn’t be judging anyone, especially those who have been convicted of drunk driving which is appalling.
November 20, 20222 yr Speaking about someone behind their back isn't bullying and they've all been quite upfront in speaking to him and addressing their grievances. Matt Hancock can't have seriously expected to go into an environment like that on one of the biggest shows on TV and *not* be questioned on the pandemic and his affair. He's an MP after all, it's quite literally his job to deal with tough situations. People have their opinions on how he handled the pandemic (in my opinion he did a dreadful job) and there's literally no reason to expect him to go in there and avoid the criticism. Questioning him also doesn't make those asking the questions "saints" or anything similar. Just because people like George, Chris, etc have had their issues and controversies, it doesn't suddenly mean they can't call out other issues as they see it. Literally *EVERYONE* has made mistakes in their life but not all of us are members of parliament, voted for by the public to serve their constituency and, in Matt's case, the country as health secretary. He's exactly the type of person who deserves the scrutiny he gets because of the position he's in (a position he hadn't resigned from before taking time out to be a celebrity for £400k). As I said, I don't think Matt's come across badly on the show, but I think he's very aware of the cameras and is doing a good job of saying exactly what he needs to say for people to forget his multiple shortcomings. He said he wants forgiveness.... and it's a little disappointing to see how easily people have fallen for that. Talk is cheap, after all.
November 20, 20222 yr Normally happens when a valid point is made eh! Actually no - You've got your view and you're not going to change it. I've got mine and the same applies. There's no point having an endless discussion which takes up a Sunday afternoon. I'm hungry and want to make lunch. Hopefully that's ok and you don't feel the need to goad me into another response :) My response was along the same lines of Joseph anyway :D Edited November 20, 20222 yr by ElectroBoy
November 20, 20222 yr Thank goodness she has gone, couldn't stand her before the show and couldn't stand her in it. Just to clarify, i'm a POC, my reason for disliking her was not her 'race'. I just do not like her as a person and find her quite condescending and rude.

Like I said what’s the 4 I mentioned have been doing is influencing behaviour and that’s the big that’s not acceptable . Had they been successful with that, he would have been completely excluded which is the part I have a problem with. Everyone does make mistakes in life, and as a result, those who are so against him should understand that more given what they’ve done in their personal lives.

Had they been successful with that, he would have been completely excluded which is the part I have a problem with. Everyone does make mistakes in life, and as a result, those who are so against him should understand that more given what they’ve done in their personal lives. Except he hasn't been excluded - they've all interacted with him and kept him as part of the group, but as Sue put it, there's an "elephant in the camp" and it's clear with some of the public responses as well to Matt's presence in the camp. He's not a celebrity like the rest of them so it's not fair to expect the same sort of reaction to celebrities who have had bumpy pasts. I don't think anybody in there has been unreasonable towards Matt the person, they've just questioned decisions he's made as an MP which is more than fair. To say there's any bullying behaviour is a massive reach, in my opinion, and once again, the pasts of other campmates are entirely unrelated to what Matt did as recently as 2 years ago and hasn't actually taken accountability for. He can ask for forgiveness on a reality show all he wants but I want to see some action in his role as MP before I start believing he's understood what went so wrong.
November 20, 20222 yr Matt is basically a household name because he oversaw decisions that resulted in the needless deaths of many together with an adultery during a time when he was part of the government that made the rules around not mixing. I’m primarily annoyed with ITV for paying him £400K after all of that, it’s absolutely disgraceful. Even if he was genuine about regretting his mistakes, a person with a shred of dignity would not then flaunt yourself further in the faces of the families who lost relatives by allowing yourself to be branded a celebrity and make money off of the things you got wrong. That is not the action of someone who is regretful, what we’re seeing is the action of someone who is regretful for himself. He is fortunate enough to actually hold a position of great influence within the UK. He could be choosing to make things right through actually championing positive changes and undertaking work in his role as MP to ensure people in his constituency have as much as they can offer in terms of support during one of the worst economic periods for a very long time… but no, he’s abandoned it all to make extra money and embark on a PR exercise that will benefit nobody other than himself. How people can be more concerned around “bullying” of him on a tv show than all of the above is completely mystifying to me. Not least that he’s not actually being bullied at all as people are just struggling to come to terms with what he’s done - in fact, using the term for this tv appearance is insulting to people who have actually endured true bullying in their lives.
