I wonder if the Thursday release helped here or if she could’ve gone even higher had she released on Friday? I still think top 40 in general is a brilliant result but this actually climbing and with playlisting adds seeming possible I wonder if this could actually peak after week one?!

 

I definitely think this is a mix of the weather being nice and this sounding good in the sun, DISCO era kylie winning over new fans and those fans being invested in the new music and the song itself being very catchy with a fun and quite out there title / music video.

 

Coming for a UK Top 40 hit in 5 consecutive decades :cheer:

 

(This also likely means we could be in for another big opening week for her in the albums chart too!).

The jump on spotify is just great to see, hopefully it can move into the top 100 on Spotify soon.

I feel like I’m in a parallel universe, for so many years we’ve streamed, downloaded, bought physicals and prayed for a hit always to fall short, now with a lead single and zero UK promo she’s heading for a debut week Top 40 entry, climbing on all the streaming charts and spent the week at #1 on iTunes.

It does feel like a dream as we have waited a long time for this. Its great that it is doing well organically aswell as with the fabase. Hopefully it can stay around now for a while so we can enjoy a bit of a kylie revival in the singles chart.

The memes are doing magic to padam on social media so we are headed to an unexpected chart run for Kylie where her single will actually stay there for weeks on the charts and chart higher in the coming weeks eventually as radio support and airplay will only start to increase but not only that, she will be added to more important streaming playlists that will only continue to increase her numbers...

Maybe the leak done ‘Padam, Padam’ a huge favour - it caused mass social media coverage from people saying how good it was, which then spiked people’s interest to check it out when it was officially released.

 

Plus the memes and praise seem to be growing daily which is then leading to more people seeking it out, the wonders of the Internet at its best.

I can't help but feel even moreso than this being a hit, it's gonna become one of those catchphrases everyone uses for the foreseeable future :lol:

^ To me this demonstrates that an artist's age is really quite irrelevant! If the song (and overall package) connects, then it connects! It shouldn't matter to anybody that the artist behind this is 55. That's why it's so refreshing that Capital leapt onto it. Wouldn't it be great if Radio 1 threw aside their rule book and embraced it too?

It'd be nice if this could be the start of helping to unpick the ageism which is a barrier to so many artists
