So! The latest thread about overrated album tracks got me thinking: Joanne is terrible, but people don't seem to really tak about it these days. It's like they forgot about it, and I imagine that's what GaGa's teams wants.

So! I went searching for new reviews, and found THIS TANTALISING one from 2021. It says,

Stars: 1/10

"From her first three albums, we see Lady Gaga as this perfect Dance-Pop/EDM legend who couldn't stop making bangers...and then we have 2016's Joanne?! Joanne is undeniably her weakest and most boring album to date, with songs that were demos taken from Taylor Swift's Red Album and turned into weak, inconsistent country pop songs that don't match with Lady Gaga's daring image. The songs were fine, but they didn't sound like a song Lady Gaga would make. For now, I'm sticking to her first three albums and Chromatica (since they sound like her). "

OMG. Did you see what it just CLAIMED?! The review claims that GaGa's Joanne album is actually msde up of TAYLOR SWIFT'S DISCARDED DEMOS!!! Obviously, Red is Taylor's best ever album, so discarded tracks could still be good, but still!!!

Did anyone know about this?!

i don't really get this thread but i don't think Joanne is that bad. i see the vision and although it may not be everyone's cup of tea, I think it really sits well in Gaga's discography. She has always been a risk taker and i think it's possibly her most polorizing era (certainly musically interesting).

I don't honestly think Joanne is that bad, it's consistent and by and large the songs are good.

I get the sense that reviewer just wants her to do the same thing over and over again like a robot, it was obvious by the point of ARTPOP that she was starting to run out of ideas and inspiration with the whole dance-pop thing and it acted as a nice palette cleanser.

It definitely isn't a 1 star album lmao. It's weak compared to her other albums because the standouts aren't as high as pretty much all of the other eras but it is consistent. The lows on this album however are some of her absolute worst: Just Another Day, Come to Mama.. unlistenable for me :drama:

The album is terrible! Whilst you're right about it being a nice change of pace after the abysmal ARTPOP, where she'd ran out of ideas, the end product was just an absolute mess. Apparently she was even using Taylor Swift demos to make it!

I found this source!

I forget where I found it tho

This thread is now a Come to Mama appreciation thread :cheer:
As I suspected... Not even her haters who parasitize newspaper offices would review Joanne giving it only 1/10

"Everybody's got to love each other

Stop throwin' stones at your sisters and brothersMan, it wasn't that long ago we were all living in the jungle

So why do we gotta put each other down

When there's more than enough love to g-g-go around?

Come to mama

Tell me who hurt ya

There's gonna be no future

If we don't figure this out

Dude in a lab coat and a man of God

(Come onto mama), oh, (come on) ma-mama

Fought over prisms and a forty-day flood

(Come onto mama, come on, mama, ooh)

Well, I say rainbows did more than they've ever done

So why do we gotta fight over ideas?

We're talkin' the same old shit after all of these years

Come to mama

Tell me who hurt ya

There's gonna be no future

If we don't figure this out

Oh, come tomorrow

Who are you gonna follow?

There's gonna be no future

If we don't figure this out

Psychic guru catches minnows in the harbor

(Come onto mama, come on, mama)

Everyone tells him he should work a little harder

(Come onto mama, come on, mama) hey, man, get to work! Catch 'em!

They all tell you that freedom must be bought

But, baby, he's already caught 'em

So why do we gotta tell each other how to live?

The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in

Come to mama

If we don't figure this out

Oh-oh, come to mama

Who are you gonna follow?

There's gonna be no future

If we don't figure this out

Come to mama

Come onto me, woah, oh-oh-ooh, oh-ooh-oh

Come on mama

Come on mama

Come on mama, woah, oh-oh-ooh

Woah, ooh-oh (woah, ooh-oh-oh)

Woah, ooh-oh (woah, ooh-oh-oh)

'Cause I wanna be there

I wanna be there for you

I wanna be there

Why do we gotta tell each other how to live?

The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in

Why do we gotta tell each other how to live?

Look what that rainbow did

Ooh-hoo, woohoo-ooh-hoo, woohoo-hoo
