East 17 sure catched up since I last looked at the poll here after getting 0 all these rounds so far. That said I wouldn't oppose a Whigfield win either.
Ooh I've decided to finally catch up with this forum again just in time to vote in this before it closes... and make it a tie again :basil: (Whigfield to win)
wow 35 people voting, thats a record?
That's quite some turnaround in the final considering Whigfield was up about 9-0 at first!

In a quite thrilling finale it is London boyband East 17 who battle back to take the crown for 1994! Stay Another Day was released in November 1994 as the third single from their second album and soared to #1 where it stayed for 5 consecutive weeks, becoming the sought after Christmas #1 single and holding off a certain Mariah Carey. Although inherently NOT a Christmas song (I will argue for England on this one) Christmas bells were added to the end of the song to further appeal to such market. Clearly it worked as it is one of the mainstays of Christmas playlists to this day and has returned to the top 40 for the past 2 years.

Despite roaring into a 9-0 lead ultimately Whigfield succumbed to finish as runner-up. The Italian eurodance group, fronted by Danish singer Sannie Carlson, achieved huge continental success with Saturday Night which topped charts across Europe including in the UK for 4 weeks, knocking off the seemingly never-ending Love Is All Around. The act had 4 further top 40 hits in the UK but nothing could hold a candle to this one which is still fondly remembered and played in bars and clubs across the land today.

Thanks to everyone for partaking in this round, sorry it was a bit more laggy than the last 2. I'll get 1995 up shortly!
