January 6, 20232 yr Author 18 KtCkjvv7N3o 'Through The Echoes' was the return release from Paolo Nutini after over 8 years away and it was a subtle little swoony track helped by some fab raspy vocals.
January 6, 20232 yr Author 17 QYRQmaHalyw OOPS this a flop for Cody here.... :kink: nah top 20 is a fantastic result for this. An A Grade banger that I also helped win with my votes being left to last ;)
January 6, 20232 yr Author 16 CdlLBBevFoQ POPHUB's biggest hit for me here is MOTHICA's 'Casualty'. What's interesting about this is that it was also one of my potentials for that months contest and I'd been playing it loads up until I saw it popping up in May. Really big fan of it anyway!
January 6, 20232 yr Author 15 b1kbLwvqugk 'Anti Hero' was Taylor Swift's 2nd UK Chart Topper (I know, crazy eh?) and spent 6 weeks on top and proved to be such a mammoth hit. I'm made up she made it but she definitely deserved more #1's than just two and her other one being a tad on the meh side. No doubt the huge success for Taylor has helped a lot with her position in my EOY too as usually songs released with two months to go do suffer a little more as a result (probably still just about make top 30 otherwise) so it's nice to be able to reward with an acceptable finish for it in the countdown. It most certainly would have been a contender for #1 with some more time in the year as well!
January 6, 20232 yr Author With Taylor now appearing with her final song I'll now leave the rest to later on!
January 6, 20232 yr Author 'Anti-Hero' expect that to feature in my countdown. Loved this from Taylor. I shall look forward to seeing that in yours too.
January 6, 20232 yr Loved Through The Echoes, was great to finally get some new music from Paolo after so many years of waiting! Delighted to see Seventeen Going Under make it in this year as well, a brilliant song.
January 6, 20232 yr Author 14 PDR_ZoMI82g An emotional song about a friends mother next is 'Birthday Cake' by Dylan Conrique. A song which charted low top 40 but never took off more sadly and it's a shame as it's a lovely ballad!
January 6, 20232 yr Author 13 Gh1876KG1Ss Winner of BJSC Masquerade now with 'Puppet' by Faouzia who is no stranger to me as I sent her to the main contest in 2020. She's gone on to win a couple of contests since then and this one is definitely worthy.
January 6, 20232 yr Author Loved Through The Echoes, was great to finally get some new music from Paolo after so many years of waiting! Delighted to see Seventeen Going Under make it in this year as well, a brilliant song. Thanks Pete. It really was. Not sure why he left it that long tbh but it was well overdue. It seems to be one that will be in loads of EOY's as it's that popular! Also interesting timing for you post a comment :o
January 6, 20232 yr Author 12 mZHYx8WM3oc Dylan back with her final track here and it's 'No Romeo' which was another solid pop song from her. It also made top 15 in BJSC as well!
January 6, 20232 yr Author 11 JcJsOfC0UDg Final stop before the all important top 10 and extremely begrudgingly it's The Slow Show's epic 'Breathe' which misses out. I tried hard to keep this top 10 tbh but unfortunately two songs have wormed their way in shoving this out. They were sent by Pete to BJSC in April and it was a fantastic discovery. The vocals bits where he's struggling to breathe really sell it too and the spoken words are just so moving as is the song itself. Video couldn't be any better really either!

January 6, 20232 yr Author Top 10 will commence in a few minutes and we'll begin with an artist who was big in the early 2000's!
January 6, 20232 yr Author 10 5uf1ldXzZUU Cracking on with my top 10 of the year and at 10th we have the amazing Sophie Ellis-Bextor who teamed up with some artist I don't know Wuh Oh on 'Hypnotized', a massive tune and a decent video to bag. It's the first major song of hers I properly loved since 2007 although her other dance hit in 2009 was quite good too and the Alcazar cover was also fine. It's good to chart a song of hers again and I think this must be the first time she's appeared in one of my EOY's (2000-2002 she'd certainly appear in too). It would have been nice to see this get her an unexpected hit but I think a lot of wishful thinking there haha
January 6, 20232 yr Author 9 oSHzUD-uqKY Perhaps an unexpected song in my top 10, well I suppose no one probably saw Sophie making my EOY top 10 either. Elley Duhé has been releasing music for years first coming to my attention in BJSC back in 2017 and up till this point I hadn't really liked any of her stuff but thankfully being introduced to this via TikTok it proved to be her best song and tbh not by default either. I think this is a catchy fab song and it rather frustratingly stalled outside the top 40 on so many occasions. I was more championing this to get there over Ruth B and that's also evident by their positions in my EOY (top 150 for 'Dandelions' but I like this as well) too. TikTok has picked some rather crap or baffling songs to promote but they do have their positives and this was definitely one of them for me.
January 6, 20232 yr Author 8 Gx6mUTrB21Y Would you have it.. it's my highest entry of the year for a Summericia entry and it comes from DEVAULT and Izzy Camina with 'HEAVEN'S GATES'. A wonderfully spooky dance bop. I would have liked it to have made top 20 but can't moan really as it didn't end up in the bottom 10 either. I haven't seen the video for this yet so I'll do that now whilst I prep 7 which is another BJSC related song *.*
January 6, 20232 yr Author 7 asNGVmLfgeE Not quite my highest overall BJSC entry but an extremely worthy one all the same. It was my 18 pointer and what can I say about it really... breathtaking, inspirational, epic, a BIG DROP etc and it was the biggest trance entry in BJSC in a long while too coming as high as 3rd. Thanks to Cow Cow for sending this piece. It was a joyous experience for me and one of my favourite things to discover all year!
January 6, 20232 yr HEAVEN'S GATES is amazing, it ended up in my Spotify Wrapped at #74. Loving that dark intense sound  The same goes for CASUALTY! Anti-Hero is of course great too, love to see some Taylor here ^_^
