December 15, 20222 yr Love the impartiality of broadcasters during all this on their huge media salaries towing the daily Mail anti strike lines. The bbc even had a man on saying he won’t get home to see his kids at Xmas due to the train strikes and when people questioned why he couldn’t get the bus they had to remove the story!
December 21, 20222 yr Well the strikes look like they are going to escalate in the new year. The Tories aren’t listening and their response so far has been pathetic. These strikes are about more than just pay but the impact of years of austerity resulting in cuts to services and pay / conditions.
December 27, 20222 yr It's shocking that they refuse to meet with to even attempt to negotiate with nurses who have the most public backing. Â General strike incoming?
December 28, 20222 yr I've been affected by postal strikes this year quite a few Xmas gifts not come through but I don't care at all, people can wait, I fully support the strikes.
December 31, 20222 yr I hate the way media always show some soapbox of some selfish idiot saying how they don’t support the strikes as they can’t get to where they want with train strikes or whatever 🙄 imagine interrupting your important day…..and I mean that’s the whole point of a strike show how important these workers are!
January 1, 20232 yr The postage strike has been annoying - getting post for Christmas all this week has been a bit… :nocheer: :nocheer: :nocheer:  BUT  I totally support the strikes. I have voted to strike in my respective sector as well.
January 10, 20232 yr Looks like the strikes are set to escalate as a revolt against the governments pathetic anti-strike legislation.
January 10, 20232 yr These anti-strike laws they want to introduce is a clear example of not reading the room.
January 10, 20232 yr Far right Tories leaning towards fascism rather than freedom? What a shock! Hooefully these strikes bring this fetid government down.
January 10, 20232 yr I heard Ian Hislop say it best but it really does beggar belief...throughout history, workers have had a right to strike and both parties should then sit down and come to a compromise. This government not only refuses to even discuss this, but actually passes laws PREVENTING this. Unbelievable, but will at least do the job of continuing their paltry performance in the polls.
January 10, 20232 yr It's going to escalate big time, Unions are forcing people to strike now as well in some areas. The law the Tories are trying to implement is a crock of horseshit. If you manage Unions well you don't need laws in place, you can have verbal agreements. Makes no sense to be sacking people when we don't even have the staff
January 10, 20232 yr Especially as our PM travels around in an army jet! They couldn't give a shit about the optics - not to mention the environmental destruction for a short journey that could easily be done by rail or road!
January 12, 20232 yr I watched Peston last night. A Tory MP was discussing the strikes and what struck me was just how out of touch he was with general public. He was trying to blame the strikes on the impact of Putin’s illegal war and inflation but it’s about a lot more than that - 12 years of austerity, cuts to services / staffing and wage freezes. That has nothing to do with Putin’s war which only started in the past year.
January 19, 20232 yr Fact is a Tory will always oppose strikes it’s not in their dna, they follow the law until they use soldiers in foreign wars to shot innocent people!
February 1, 20232 yr The teachers strike is just farcical. They're paid enough for what they do and get far too many holidays.
February 2, 20232 yr The teachers strike is just farcical. They're paid enough for what they do and get far too many holidays. Find yourself a new script.  I was striking yesterday and I plan to again if things don’t get sorted. The teachers strike is about much more than pay, it’s about school funding and work conditions.  And let’s just say you judging anyone for striking is far more farcical.
February 2, 20232 yr The teachers strike is just farcical. They're paid enough for what they do and get far too many holidays. Get a life.
February 2, 20232 yr I was striking yesterday as well.  Unless you’re actually in an education setting you will never understand. I would HAPPILY host anyone in my classroom who wants to see what it’s really like.
February 2, 20232 yr I was striking yesterday as well.  Unless you’re actually in an education setting you will never understand. I would HAPPILY host anyone in my classroom who wants to see what it’s really like. It’s true, and would there be a recruitment crisis if the money and holiday made that much of a difference? Thankfully, almost everyone I know is behind us and those few who aren’t basically just parrot all the the Tory sound bites so I can’t take them seriously. Kind of reminds me of someone… Edited February 2, 20232 yr by T Boy
