January 9, 20233 yr Boo @ Lewis, although good for him for caring. If he gets it this week, I hope RAYE can snatch back the #1 the following week; it deserves more than one week at the top for sure!
January 9, 20233 yr Wouldn’t have minded Raye having a second week at number 1 but is what it is, i’m sure she will have more longevity than Lewis’ Pointless anyway.
January 9, 20233 yr People are calling Lewis a none number one because it’s not the most popular song but how is it any different to being put and every playlist. At least his are sales and no just people playing and random playlist.
January 9, 20233 yr Try again for Pink to hold top 40. Shouldn't be having any obstacles in her way this time unless it dips on Apple through the week. If she can hold on that’s be great! Hopefully she can this week.

Much more impressive than Lewis' tactics and not really comparable at all.
January 9, 20233 yr My Lewis Capaldi CD has been dispatched just now, so I assume it won't have counted towards the chart yet?
January 9, 20233 yr Lewis' recent singles have flopped everywhere except in the UK (and Ireland to some extent) so they might as well milk they can in the UK.and then there’s here in the States where they’re still trying to push “Forget Me”
January 9, 20233 yr I see it that they don't believe in these songs beyond the UK charts so they might as well use a lot of money and time to make it chart as high as possible in the one country that matters the most to them and the label? I believe Ed has never really tried to sell cds in the US for instance. Lewis' recent singles have flopped everywhere except in the UK (and Ireland to some extent) so they might as well milk they can in the UK. I mean imagine Ed trying to sell cd singles of Celestial to the US public  I wish Kylie and more artists like that would, frankly, stoop to these tactics. Britney and Elton could’ve easily gotten a #1 if they were this desperate So in that sense I can’t complain but until my faves start doing it (well, start being smart about it), I will :kink:

If Lewis does get #1 on Friday, I do hope either RAYE can reclaim it the following week or Sam to get their ninth #1 single but more preferably the latter

Britney and Elton could’ve easily gotten a #1 if they were this desperate So in that sense I can’t complain but until my faves start doing it (well, start being smart about it), I will :kink: While I get those point and agree to an extent (Madonna could take note)... I genuinely think the artists mentioned are legacy acts and have lasted for as long as they have because they maintain a sense of integrity with their artistry? I wouldn't want Kylie to do this, I'd want her to continue marketing the way she does and continue to build respect in the music world. Some songs fail to capture the public attention, others do and that's part of the fun. If they "stooped" to this level constantly would they still be in the game decades later? Who knows!

At least his are sales and no just people playing and random playlist. I mean you can just as easily say 'at least RAYE's numbers come from people actually listening to the song rather than dropping 99p on a signed paperweight'. And given the charts are primarily driven by streaming rather than sales these days Capaldi is the one who is clearly outside the norm so obviously it's going to cause more people to comment on it. (Not that we don't get our fair share of people constantly criticising the impact of playlists on the streaming charts as well)
January 9, 20233 yr What is Midnights projected to sell this week based on the mids? Is there any danger of Dua Lipa's (I think?) record for lowest weekly sales for the #1 album being broken? Edited January 9, 20233 yr by Mangø
January 9, 20233 yr What is Midnights projected to sell this week based on the mids? Is there any danger of Dua Lipa's (I think?) record for lowest weekly sales for the #1 album being broken? In the week that Future Nostalgia recorded the lowest sale for a #1 album to date the Monday midweek was actually Hayley Williams with sales of 3,973. Taylor currently on 3,573 (coincidentally exactly 400 sales behind) for this week so could well be broken.
January 9, 20233 yr What is Midnights projected to sell this week based on the mids? Is there any danger of Dua Lipa's (I think?) record for lowest weekly sales for the #1 album being broken? She did 11.5k last week so I’d have thought won’t be far short of that. Definitely not breaking the record for now at least.

January 10, 20233 yr Trash screechy song going to #1 via cheap CDs and embarrassing emails! Save us RAYE THIIIIS!!!!

Taylor currently on 3,573 (coincidentally exactly 400 sales behind) for this week so could well be broken. I imagine Taylor will probably be a better seller throughout the week than Hayley Williams, and with that figure should at least cross 10k?

(looked it up, she was on 2.6k - also behind """The D-Day Darlings""" which is a repressed memory I did not need brought back, vom - ironically with an album titled 'I'll Remember You')
January 10, 20233 yr Think Taylor will be on around 10K in albums Is there any big release that could challenge x #1 until Sam Smith?
