I’ll be interested to see how this plays out. Although I enjoyed it at the time, looking back the reunion it was terribly cheap, including the show! Then again Steps first reunion looking back was cheap as chips too and their comeback with Tears still remains one of greatest pop comebacks ever so who knows!?!? I suspect it will purely be a tour though not new music.

Steps have set a fairly high benchmark.

Though as mentioned I doubt it’ll be new music either. I’d welcome it though.

Its likely we wont get a new studio album but if the tour etc goes really well for them it could happen (longshot). Steps were lucky in that the ultimate collection went number 1 for them and the tour was hugely successful, it did help that their studio albums were on par to back when they were originally successful.
Reading this makes me sad. Hopefully they’ve learnt and it’s better this time. Fixing up Spotify is a must though.

I should point out I'm not saying all of this to be a Debbie; far from it. I love S Club 7, always have done, always will. They were something so special to me and actually their music and their TV shows were a real comfort to me growing up. I still get my life to "Bring It All Back", "S Club Party" and "Don't Stop Movin'". I can still reel off my deep cuts at the drop of a hat ("Our Time Has Come", "Discotek", "Show Me Your Colours", just FYI).

But seeing what Steps have done has illustrated the power of having a decent invested team behind you that genuinely care about you and your legacy, and also genuinely understands their fanbase and what they care about.

Which is why, in my heart, as much as I want the same for them I am having to temper those expectations.

All good, and I agree. For me it’s Bring It All Back, You’re My Number One, Reach, Never Had A Dream Come True and Don’t Stop Movin’. And for the deep cuts it’s I Really Miss You, Stand By You, Show Me Your Colours and Discotek. Though I still need access to Down At Club S. so that needs to be on Spotify. :)

But yeah my expectations are tempered too. Though it will be nice to relive a bit of our youth. :)

Looking back honestly I kind of feel like they were really lucky. Did you know that in America their tv show aired but US viewers thought they were a fictional band?

There was a podcast recapping it that I listened to a bit in lockdown and it really pointed out how insane it was that none of them had consistent personalities or traits one episode to the next. Like there was no one you could point to and say 'Jon/Tina/Jo is like THIS' the way you could with e.g. Victoria Beckham or Lisa Scott-Lee.

An S Club reunion doesn't really excite me - I've seen various iterations of S Club members perform in gay bars multiple times over the past 15 years. They always seem to share the stage with someone like Ultra Naté or Kelly Llorenna - so that's the sort of level I see them on now. A good bit of pop nostalgia rather than a proper pop concert.

Having seen the TV series many times over (as recently as a few years ago!) I think they did have at least rough personality traits - Jo was the hard-faced one, Bradley was the goofball, Jon was the clever/good looking one, etc - but I don't think this really carried over into anything outside the TV show so few of them were really seen as big names individually, particularly in a group of 7 people where Jo, Rachel and Bradley took the vast majority of the solos in their hit singles! (Tina and Hannah only had small solos on Bring It All Back and Say Goodbye, while both Jon had a solo on Reach and the single mix of You, and Paul only on Reach). Not to mention how only Rachel took the momentum of the group and ran with it as a soloist, Jo waited too long and nobody else had a major attempt really, so the group's fading success nearer the end mixed with vanishing immediately from the limelight can't have helped. Obviously the TV show has a lot of nostalgic value for me! I loved it at the time and it brings back wonderful memories, so I can ignore inconsistencies along the way but I think anyone who watched the entire thing would be able to get a rough gage on who's who and what they're like, it just matured a bit towards the end (much like their music I suppose, the tone of Viva S Club was very different to that of Miami 7).

It's also interesting to see how most of them haven't taken part in any sort of reality show in the years since! Of course, Rachel did both Strictly and Dancing On Ice, and Jo did CBB (a big eek all round for obvious reasons). You'd think getting someone like Tina or Bradley on I'm a Celeb or Strictly wouldn't be a bad move, and they'd be decent enough names for the show with the S Club tag firmly attached as well! The club circuit must be pretty decent for them both to continue doing it, while Hannah's acting has allowed her to be a regular convention guest because of Primeval (I met her at a convention in Cornwall while I was on holiday a few years back, one of the most exciting moments of my life!!).

I'm not expecting anything more than a tour, and I'm happy with just that. New music hasn't ever really been on my radar for S Club and that's okay, they'd all have to be seriously invested in it to make it worthwhile I guess and I don't think they are, like Steps. Not to mention how some of them were hired more for acting than singing, and a TV show return obviously isn't on the cards, which could make it less tempting for some members? Either way, I'll absolutely be at the tour and having the time of my life!! I hope they do meet and greet!!!

I'm hopeful for a tour, would be nice to hear some of their lesser known songs live (or live-ish) again.

Can't be as bad as the last tour, I had a good time but there was numerous times you'd be like wow did that just happen. For example on the date I went to Hannah's microphone was no where near her face for a good while, even by her side. But you could still hear her?

S Club 7 Back to the 50’s was so so so good!

I don’t think I’ve fully seen that one.

Miami 7 and LA 7 were both great. I saw bits of Hollywood 7 and Viva S Club but not the full series.

Hopefully they pop up on a straining service in the future.

S Club 7 Back to the 50’s was so so so good!

I do agree actually, that was my favourite of all the post-series hour long specials. Boyfriends and Birthdays a close second!

For series, L.A. 7 was the best for me. I bought the complete boxset of those fanmade DVDs on Twitter a couple of years ago and it's actually surprisingly still really funny to watch! I think the beauty of certainly that and Miami 7 was that it didn't take itself so seriously and I think that really shone through.

But again. Not fans doing the actual work of the gods (and probably risking a lawsuit to do so) then Simon Fuller doing the bare minimum.

I absolutely LOVED Seeing Double, I remember watching it in the cinema!

I remember the room being absolutely packed and people literally even sitting on the steps! I'm pretty sure it was release week.

Now this would slap so hard :cheeseblock: Unfortunately I don't see Seeing Double getting any representation other than the singles :( Definitely need to add Natural to complete the list of singles though!

Also I second the Seeing Double movie love, I remember watching it in the cinema, one of my first cinema trips I'm sure! It was everything, I still love it now!

I'd go:

1. S Club Party

2. Bring The House Down

3. Bring It All Back

4. You're My Number One

5. Viva La Fiesta/Do It Til We Drop/Stronger

6. Two In A Million

7. Rain/Let Me Sleep/Straight From The Heart/I Really Miss You

8. Have You Ever

9. Show Me Your Colours/Summertime Feeling

10. You

11. Alive

12. Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You

13. Feelings (Maroon 5 cover - for some reason I always imagine this being a great S Club 7 song, with Jo on lead)

14. Solo medley (including Jo doing On The Surface/What Hurts The Most, Tina doing I'll Be There, Bradley doing Friday Night, Jon doing The Long And Winding Road, Hannah doing Stand By You and Paul singing a rock cover, finishing with Rachel doing Sweet Dreams My LA Ex/Some Girls)

15. Natural

16. Never Had A Dream Come True

17. Say Goodbye

-----

18. Don't Stop Movin'

19. Reach

It's hard to know how to order these and what to leave for the encore because they have so many songs you could call signature hits. But it does make sense to start with S Club Party, although Bring The House Down worked well for that purpose last time too.
