February 6, 20232 yr Author 2000 27/30: Thrillseekers feat Sheryl Deane - Synaesthesia (5 weeks at No.1) 18xVnK-bU4M The longest running No.1 of the year with five weeks, and currently my 77th favourite song of all-time, Synaesthesia has got to be one of the most underrated songs ever. An absolutely beautiful piece of British trance, with a gorgeous vocal from Sheryl Deane, I first heard Synaesthesia way ahead of its UK release, I want to say either on the radio or via a compilation that had early access to it but I can't quite remember - all I know is that I was blown away the first time I heard it and still love it just as much. A beautiful melody, an epic chorus, pulsating synths, and all of this was rewarded with a...No.28 peak when it finally made it into the shops in February 2001. Thankfully, it is highly regarded as a trance classic and among its various versions on Spotify has racked up over 10 million streams. Edited February 6, 20232 yr by gooddelta
February 6, 20232 yr So many I dont know! Silence was a big top 5 for me, great record, and Christina Ag went top 40 though :yahoo:
February 6, 20232 yr 'Silence' and 'The Lonely One' are fab. The latter of course being sent to BJSC a few years ago and funnily enough was the first time I heard it :o one of those I clearly missed. Will check some of these ones I don't know again soon Rich!
February 6, 20232 yr 'Silence' is my favourite since I last commented  glad it spent several weeks at the top for you, it's stunning. I knew the Aurora version of 'Ordinary World' before the Duran Duran original so my mind was blown when I first heard that in the wild  we've since had another AURORA in the top 40 as well, of course!
February 6, 20232 yr 'Silence' is a brilliant tune - I much prefer the Airscape remix too, it's so euphoric.
February 6, 20232 yr If my memory is correct then Come On Over Baby was the first Christina Aguilera single I purchased. Loved it back in the day. Wasn’t until much later I discovered the album version was different.
February 6, 20232 yr Author So many I dont know! Silence was a big top 5 for me, great record, and Christina Ag went top 40 though :yahoo: Only just now realising how far away from the chart my taste was for a 13 year old, still plenty of hits here I guess, glad those two were big for you! Just having a listen of these now! Hope you find some goodies! 'Silence' and 'The Lonely One' are fab. The latter of course being sent to BJSC a few years ago and funnily enough was the first time I heard it :o one of those I clearly missed. Will check some of these ones I don't know again soon Rich! Yes true Rob, it was nice that it got an airing in BJSC, it's a fantastic track. and that early Christina one is great too! Agreed! A bit forgotten now but doesn't deserve to be. 'Silence' is my favourite since I last commented  glad it spent several weeks at the top for you, it's stunning. I knew the Aurora version of 'Ordinary World' before the Duran Duran original so my mind was blown when I first heard that in the wild  we've since had another AURORA in the top 40 as well, of course! Completely agree, it's such a great track. I also heard the Aurora version first! I always thought the lyrics were very sophisticated for a trance-pop track...then I found out why  Yes, very true! 'Silence' is a brilliant tune - I much prefer the Airscape remix too, it's so euphoric. I don't know why it's so rare to hear the Airscape version these days, after all, that was the hit. I guess Tiesto is just a bigger name. If my memory is correct then Come On Over Baby was the first Christina Aguilera single I purchased. Loved it back in the day. Wasn’t until much later I discovered the album version was different. Yeah, I had the album and liked it but was really impressed with the single mix, it was a complete revamp.
February 6, 20232 yr Author 2000 28/30: Alice Deejay - Celebrate Our Love (1 week at #1) zlJHFEQFA3M I will finish 2000 with three early 2001 hits that charted early for me. At the time I tended not to chart something until I had it available to listen to at home, so album tracks that were released as singles had an advantage if I already owned the album. For their fifth and final No.1, and final UK single ever (sobs), Alice Deejay's uplifting Celebrate Our Love snuck a week in at the top towards the end of 2000, a couple of months before its UK single release. Said single release came with a radio edit that spruced up the production and made it all a bit more euphoric/Dario G-esque, and the track peaked at No.17, only a place behind The Lonely One, meaning they went top 20 with everything they released - all pulled from the same gold top ten (*.*) album.
February 6, 20232 yr Re Christina - The album version itself is great I think. I found myself playing it a lot once I found out it was different.
February 6, 20232 yr Author 2000 29/30: Fragma feat Maria Rubia - Everytime You Need Me (4 non-consecutive weeks at #1) uxMaEjwQlEk Fragma finally followed up Toca's Miracle nine months later, with a decidely poppier track, Everytime You Need Me, featuring British singer Maria Rubia. It was unlucky to be released on the same week as two classics - Rui Da Silva's Touch Me and one of Steps' finest - It's The Way You Make Me Feel. Still, it hardly disgraced itself with a fortnight at No.3, four weeks in the top five and five in the top 10, the same number of top 10 weeks as its predecessor, showing how popular it was in its own right. I loved this track so much that I must have taped it off the radio and decided to chart it early (as I did when I was obsessed) because it was in my charts before Christmas, and later returned to No.1 in January 2001 alongside its single release. A bright and catchy summer sound for the winter from Fragma but still with the same distinctive sort of style as Toca's Miracle. It managed to spend a week longer than that single at the top of my chart and to this day I like them both about the same.
February 6, 20232 yr Author How do you multi quote?! Such a revelation! The button to the left of quote with the plus. You can select all the posts you want to quote at the same time! Also, sounds like we need an Alice Deejay listenthrough! You’d be right there! We do, would be a great album listenthrough actually. Some great stuff besides the singles on there. Re Christina - The album version itself is great I think. I found myself playing it a lot once I found out it was different. Yes it's definitely still good, a little more dated in sound but they're both great in their own right.
February 6, 20232 yr Author 2000 30/30: Texas - Inner Smile (1 week at No.1) DfzbVTQE3iw Fragma was Christmas No.1, but sneaking in between their runs at the top was Scottish group Texas with Inner Smile. They would have topped my chart with In Our Lifetime in 1999, but the chart started a little too late (June 1999) for that to contend for the top, as I'd been loving it most the month before. They finally got their chance with the second single from their insanely popular Greatest Hits album, Inner Smile. Co-written with Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals, it had his distinctive style that could also be found on hits from Ronan Keating and Sophie Ellis-Bextor around this time, and the infectious 'yeah, yeah' running throughout it and Sharleen Spiteri dressing as Elvis in the video made it a very memorable single, and one that peaked at No.6 in the UK - the same position as its predecessor In Demand a few months earlier. After waiting for decades, I finally saw Texas live last year and this track was a big highlight.
