April 24, 20232 yr Marina is definitely the best of that bunch, as others said it's a shame she never had more success than she did. It's criminal that she doesn't have a top 10 single to her name. 'Hollywood' and 'Primadonna' both deserved to be massive!
April 24, 20232 yr Oooops I forgot all about Marina. I haven't loved anything in a while but she does have 2 great albums.
April 24, 20232 yr 'Hollywood' by Marina was absolutely amazing song - should have been massive. Loved 'Family Jewels' album.
April 24, 20232 yr FROOT though! :oMy least favourite! So, SO overrated :( I missed her off my list :( Would probably have been top 20 for me.
April 24, 20232 yr can't believe Primadonna only peaked at #11 - it feels so much bigger! It deserved so much more success.
April 24, 20232 yr 'Primadonna' had a pretty decent run, despite being cruelly robbed of a top 10 place twice! I honestly like every Marina album except Love + Fear, she's pretty consistent. I think maybe she was a bit "oddball" to make it truly huge though.

April 25, 20232 yr Author Is Rachel the first person with 5 individual votes! Dina had a nice run! No Marina had 5 voters too
April 25, 20232 yr Can’t believe I forgot Rachel, she probably would’ve scraped in for a point or two.
April 25, 20232 yr Happy to see Dina Carroll make it. I don't think she would have ever made my list but I did like her first batch of singles and dance features.
April 25, 20232 yr Also OMG at me thinking that Debbie Gibson was the late Sarah Harding at first, I had no idea Debbie looked like that.
April 25, 20232 yr not sure if I would have recognised Debbie Gibson from that pic, she was my first crush as a kid <3 she was so talented, a teen, writing her own songs solo, playing piano, and she had a bunch of big hits, including a couple US #1s Dina Carroll was also great, So Close was a great album. Emeli Sande I kinda liked too, too bad she fall from grace so quick. Her debut was huge but then nothing.
April 25, 20232 yr Wow Rachel is lower than I expected. I think I may have given her more points last time I voted though so I contributed to that lower score oops! My first one to go!
April 25, 20232 yr Funnily enough I was listening to Rachel's 'Come And Get It' album yesterday, still a good listen :) Used to love Debbie Gibson, 'Shake Your Love' and 'Electric Youth' are two of my absolute favourite pop songs of the 80s, sadly her star quickly waned after those first two albums. She was talented for sure though, I think she broke the record for youngest female artist to solely write, produce and perform a US #1 at the age of 17? Not sure if that's since been broken? Genuinely thought Emeli Sandé was gonna continue to be massive after her first album. An Adele by name, not by record sales!
