Posted February 19, 20232 yr Is anyone here a fan of the 'Carry On' film series which ran from 1959 to 1992? This thread is for fans of the hugely popular Carry On films. For me, I always liked Abroad, Henry, Up The Jungle, Camping and Dick.
February 19, 20232 yr Very much so. Love Doctor, Girls, Camping, Up the Khyber and Screaming the most!
February 19, 20232 yr Author I see that Carry On last night got the treatment of Channel 5's 'Secrets and Scandals' series.
February 19, 20232 yr Author As for Columbus, even though it has "Carry On" in its title, I've never regarded this film as part of the series.
February 19, 20232 yr Pretty much all of them are legendary. I can't remember which ones exactly I wasn't as keen on though but I went through the whole collection about 5 years ago when I received it as a present and is a staple of British comedy. Vivid memories of it being on when I was 5 too. It is pretty rough reading up some of the stories behind a lot of actors in it though. Charles Hawtry wasn't exactly the most pleasant for example.
February 19, 20232 yr They were on a lot at peak time on BBC1 in the 1970s. I think Carry On Spying, Screaming and Up The Khyber are my favourites. I haven't watched any of the Carry On films for many years.
February 20, 20232 yr Yes I still love 'em, so many brilliant comic actors with great one-liners. The best ones are the piss-takes of history, and especially the British abroad: Cleo, Spying, Screaming, Henry, Don;t Lose Your Head, Follow that Camel and best of all Up The Khyber, so packed with so much to love it made my Top 100 fave Movies of all-time. I really ought to revisit that list, what with so many brilliant movies over the last 10 years to add in....if only I could find the link to it
February 20, 20232 yr I own a boxset of them on DVD. It was my dad who first introduced me to them when I was younger. My favourites were Carry On Abroad & Carry On Cleo.
