Three absolute bops there, so much love for all three of them!

'Summer Son' is just brilliant, Sharleen's vocals are gorgeous on it

The Bucketheads song is a 90s classic, it's a bit of a shame it's not as well remembered as other songs of that era.

'Self Control' kind of falls into that category too, it's a bit of an 80s classic although you don't hear it as much as you should.

I've heard The Bucketheads song in the wild plenty! (plus it was back in the chart in sample form pretty recently with that completely pointless remake by Alok and friends)
Really? I think I've only ever heard it occasionally on the likes of Heart's Club Classics, but it doesn't get played outside of that nearly as much as stuff like 'Dreamer', 'Set You Free' or 'Rhythm Is A Dancer'.
Ah just glad Self Control made the final and didn’t completely flop in it. I’ll imagine it slightly higher with John’s votes added too. :D The way it builds up I think is extraordinary - a masterpiece. I must admit I haven’t heard the original so will need to check that out.
If I'd voted Kylie and Blondie would be one place higher, and Texas and Laura Branigan potentially higher depending on next few scores - they'd have been around 45 points both...
Over the years I've heard The Bomb! quite often when I've been out in bars and clubs etc. Probably about the most I've heard any 90s dance track tbh - or at least equal with the Nightcrawlers, Robin S etc

Blur are the other act to have two songs in the final and they lose the first one here. The Universal was the second single from their fourth album, The Great Escape, and a follow-up to their number 1, Country House. The video was inspired by the 1971 film 'A Clockwork Orange'.

Oh that's two of my top 5 out in one fell swoop :nocheer: I really got into Nirvana's discography a couple of years ago and 'Heart-Shaped Box' is the song of theirs I gravitate towards the most, even if In Utero isn't necessarily my favourite era. 'Sowing The Seeds Of Love' is brilliant too, it sounds very Beatles influenced so no wonder I'm hot on that one.
Only discovered the Tears For Fears track recently at the #1 albums sessions but another great song from them, love 'Heart-Shaped Box' as well, seems like a decent enough result for that even if I'd have preferred higher. Mainly know the Blur song from the instrumental being used in adverts, it's nice though, but the correct song being higher for them.
Love The Universal and seeing them perform it live at the 2009 Hyde Park reunion having though I'd never get the chance to see them live was a special moment
Tears For Fears my wouldabeen 48 pointer, and Nirvana down bottom end (sorry Nirvana fans but you can thank me not voting for it being higher than Texas, Laura Branigan and TFF, you're welcome  ) Blur would also have been on 40 points or so. Most of my faves seem to be down the bottom end of the list.... :o

'Heart-Shaped Box' is the clear highlight of that trio. Nirvana at their peak, even if 'In Utero' isn't quite their best album, as Jade says.

'The Universal' has never been one of my favourite Blur songs but I do appreciate it musically.

'Sowing The Seeds' is obviously a bit of an 80s classic, even if I wouldn't rush to turn it up if I heard it on the radio.

Oh The Universal deserved much muchh better

And Heartshaped Box too
