I have the free one and always get nice autoplays and never got the autopayola ones that people have mentioned

like now for instance I played the whole Miley album and when it finished the first song on autoplay was Billie Eilish-TV

followed by Lizzy McAlpine-Ceilings and Boygenius-Not Strong Enough

so it's clearly based on what you normally listen

I'm pretty sure I made this exact post already but reiterating again, yes autoplay is mostly based on what you usually listen to, but it is now explicitly confirmed that some songs are given preferential treatment in the algorithm. That doesn't mean they are the only songs that ever appear as autoplays, just that they appear disproportionately often.
I had Tove Lo's Borderline come on constantly for a few weeks on autoplay. It's stopped now. I agree it seems like it's tailored to the sort of thing you are likely to listen to, it doesn't force the same song onto everyone.
I read that as Tove Styrke at first and was all :cheer: but then realised and was all :nocheer:

You sound fun. Chill.

I would have fully approved of Spotify pushing that old Tove Styrke gem onto me. But alas, no.

Very poor start for ArrDee and Cat Burns :o he was knocking out the hits not so long ago and she didn’t exactly do badly last year either.

Well Cat has only had one hit (albeit massive), the others all flopped and ArrDee's previous single didn't even enter the top 200 on Spotify for a day so this has done a lot better initially. I think that this kind of song could take a while to be a hit too so let's see streaming numbers over next few weeks.

I've also had Borderline many times as an autoplay, and ROSALÍA'S LLYLM a few weeks ago - both songs I like, but wouldn't have chosen to listen to as often as they were being pushed (sometimes after about 3 different songs within a couple of hours).
'people pleaser' has been a relatively decent sized hit as well at this stage (low peak but hanging around for a while). But yeah, still not sure Cat Burns is really a name many people would care much about.
re: People Pleaser, no one cared when released, then it was added to HH pretty high and then made the top 100 and has been charting since (still high on HH)
So in conclusion to all of the above if something gets support on HH there’s a good chance it’ll chart for a while!
'people pleaser' reached a new peak last week despite being past its peak on Spotify (it was only in the top 200 for one day during the week) so I don't think that's the main reason for its success? It is a lot higher on Apple.

Surely it's mostly based on the specific song/artist you played? I've been testing it out on various genres lately and it's quite a nice way of discovering new songs in a specific style.

I did notice it threw it Loreen's Tattoo earlier though so it must do that a bit too.

Yes, that is basically what I was trying to say. Just that the specific songs it picks have a bias towards whatever songs are the current flavour of the week in the 'discovery mode' algorithm.

I imagine there are probably songs from more niche genres that are benefiting from this as well but they don't actually show up in the chart because there aren't enough people who listen to those genres for the uptick in streams to be enough for it to make an appearance.

Add me to the "Borderline" autoplay list. Not that I minded as I quite like the song but it was pretty much the first autoplay song I got for a.couple weeks!

but like all talentless rappers he'll do the usual track and use a super famous sample in order to get another hit

people like ArrDee or Central Cee that's the only way they can get a hit cos they cannot write music

Miracle only down one place still with 230k on a Sunday where dance songs usually do the worst!

Defo on its way to smash!
