that's a huge climb for Calvin & Elena on Apple!!

 

 

Wow that’s massive , a lot of some of the biggest new smashes aren’t even as high as that by 3pm. Huge for them!

Hopefully the pre-release hype has done it’s work and Calvin/Ellie will keep climbing fast. Glad to see some shared trance appreciation on here.

 

Unfortunately I can’t share the enthusiasm for the basic ass Mae Muller song. Maybe it will grow on me, maybe i’m judging it against the brilliant Space Man too much but right now it sounds like a whole lotta meh.

Confident Calvin will debut top 20 (maybe even top 10).

I told one of my IRL friends the other day that 'Miracle' would be an upcoming number one, so glad it looks like it might and I won't look like a complete idiot :lol:

And all of a sudden after consistently gaining 120K+ for an entire week it's now lost streams compared to a week ago, exactly on time. Knew it :lol:

Not sure if there's a new beneficiary yet.

 

Kept the payola long enough to get the global #1 for one day and then dipped! (Down to #3 again today lol)

 

I wonder why this autoplay effect always seems to be so short-lived :thinking:

I would assume she'll do a lot better on Spotify in the US, Apple is much bigger for non pop genres. (Primarily hip-hop/R&B but of late I think country and reggaetón stuff does better on Apple too)

MK/Dom Dolla and Don Toliver/Justin Bieber/Future have both also had disproportionately big drops today btw (Don also having a big drop on the global chart) so looks like they're also getting rotated out of autoplay after their suspicious rises last week. At least it seems to be fairly easy to spot these shenanigans...

 

There was recently a public acknowledgement of Spotify 'expanding' their system that grants better places in the autoplay algorithm in exchange for lower royalty payments (as if they could get any lower!) which has apparently been in place for a few years. But they clearly must have expanded it a while before that public announcement as it's obviously been egregiously more blatant for a couple of months now.

Truly expected Miley to have several songs in top 20 on AM by now.

I've been awaiting to see what would happen this week but with the feeling of no strong expectation for her to do anything substantial. The kinds of artists who tend to have big showings with their albums are the ones who *always* do (Ye had 3 top 20 hits from his gospel album!) or new artists that have a lot of hype behind them (eg Olivia, Billie). Miley doesn't really fit into either camp. She does well on pure sales but I don't know how many people who've never listened to a Miley Cyrus album on release are gonna start just because they like "Flowers", most have decided where they stand long ago.

Really great start on Apple Music so far. The entire album is in the top 200 and most of it being in the top 100. It should keep climbing through tomorrow so hoping most if not the entire album will go top 100 on Apple Music. Only "River" is charting on Amazon so far from what I can see but that's really impressive considering the Amazon chart is usually not very friendly to most new albums & songs/it takes time for them to show up usually. I expect we'll see a lot of the album charting on Amazon come saturday evening.

 

"River" is #1 on NMF so expecting that to debut on spotify quite high. "Jaded" and "Muddy Feet (feat. Sia)" are also on NMF so should debut higher than the other album tracks. Surprised "River" wasn't added to HHUK but I expect it may get added in the coming days. Was hoping Miley could have "Flowers"/"River" and a 3rd track on HH. Also "River" is #1 on Today's Top Hits so it will definitely get added to HHUK. Hopefully as track 1!

Can’t believe River is being pushed as the single when Jaded is right there!

Rising dance hits being high up on Apple is really the opposite of surprising. It's more surprising when they aren't. Big Apple playlists are always much more dance leaning than Spotify ones.
