Biography

If you want to see something sweet, have a look back at Niall Horan’s 2010 audition for the The X Factor. The swoop of bleached hair, the boyish jitters, the idea that he was gonna become the Irish Justin Bieber and it was all—going—to—start—today. Of course, things worked out a little differently, but if teaming up with a few other contestant runoffs and starting a group—One Direction—that went on to break Beatles-level records is your consolation prize, you probably came out okay. Not that Horan had a lot of time to think about it. “When it was happening, it was like we were in our own little bubble and everyone else was outside it,” he told Apple Music on the occasion of his second solo album, 2020’s Heartbreak Weather. “I didn’t realize the phenomenon. Like, apart from the fact that we played to 60,000 people every night.” Born in Westmeath, Ireland in 1993, Horan grew up listening to stuff like Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young—influences not immediately apparent in One Direction but that surfaced in his solo career. His first album, 2017’s Flicker, didn’t cling to youth. If anything, Horan—like Ed Sheeran—proved himself one of those artists capable of riding the divide between a teenage audience and a decidedly adult one, crafting earnest, uplifting folk-pop with a slight modern shimmer. Heartbreak Weather took the sound a step further, incorporating soul, dance, and classic pop-rock. Not that he’s aiming for cool. If anything, what makes Horan appealing is that he feels more like an Everyman than a rockstar—the boy from around the way who made good. Good thing he didn’t win after all. - Apple Music

Good to see Heaven climbing. Hopefully it can keep on the up.

Liking more this now.

It reminds me of Jake Bugg in some parts

Edited by Jason

I reckon this will have a similar run to Kid Laroi's Love Again now it seems to be falling again on streaming.
'Heaven' is ok but didn't leave much of an impression on me on first listen unfortunately - hope it'll be a grower as I've liked most of his previous hits.

Biography

George Ezra’s spirited folk-pop sing-alongs could have thrived in any era, but their mix of worldly curiosity, unbridled optimism and a few playful loops and synths reflects a truly millennial ideal. Born George Ezra Barnett in Hertfordshire, England in 1993, the singer/songwriter grew up seeking comfort in the wordplay of folk laureates like Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie and the raw, emotional resonance of blues masters like Lead Belly. He trained his voice to sound as bold and booming as the latter, and honed his writing chops while travelling—an activity he’d been fascinated with since falling in love with Paddington Bear as a kid. The fictional teddy would come to inspire Ezra’s 2014 debut album, Wanted on Voyage, a phrase found on Paddington’s suitcase. Singles “Budapest” and “Barcelona” burst with buoyant acoustic hooks while evoking the modest sensibility of Ed Sheeran. They also represent a clear sense of place, and Ezra’s eternal wanderlust, something he slips into each of his effervescent works—whether that’s finding “Paradise” in love or riding “Shotgun” to anywhere. That exuberant joie de vivre feels ever more evocative under the influence of his robust baritone, a soothing sonorousness that goes down like a finely aged wine. - Apple Music

Biography

From the start, P!nk made it her business to be different: “Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears,” she sang on 2001’s “Don’t Let Me Get Me". “She’s so pretty/That just ain’t me.” Even as she rose in fame, she retained the whiff of an outsider—someone too frank, too unapologetic, too real for the show: not an icon, but a human being. As a girl, P!nk (born Alecia Beth Moore in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in 1979) loved Madonna and Janis Joplin, and tried her hand at opera, show tunes and punk rock. She started performing in clubs as a teenager, taking her name from Steve Buscemi’s "Mr. Pink” character in the Quentin Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs: quippy, edgy, ready for trouble. After the demise of her first group, Choice, which was briefly signed to LaFace Records, P!nk released her 2000 debut, Can’t Take Me Home, co-writing more than half the album’s tracks. A year later, she released M!ssundaztood, a leap forward both artistically and commercially, bridging the immediacy of club pop with songs that were confessional, genuine, frustrated and raw (“Family Portrait”, “Just Like a Pill”). That style paved the way for artists like Halsey, Kesha and just about every other major female pop star in her wake.

While her attitude was central to her appeal—whether she was tilting towards rock on 2003’s Try This or tipping back to dance on 2006’s I’m Not Dead—what really set her apart was her versatility: It was hard to imagine another singer capable of tackling something as bitterly sarcastic as “I Got Money Now” (“You don’t have to like me anymore/I’ve got money now”) and then shifting, with total credibility, to “Dear Mr. President” or “Who Knew”—who could be a punk one minute and an embracing, almost maternal comfort the next. She also set new standards as a live act, incorporating aerial dance and acrobatics into her extravagant stage shows. (Check out her performance of “Sober” at the 2009 VMAs for proof.)

In 2012, The Truth About Love marked another career high, tackling marriage, parenthood and the heft of Real Adult Emotions with a frankness that was funny, touching and refreshingly unsentimental (“It’s whispered by the angels’ lips,” she sang on the title track, “and it can turn you into a son of a bitch”). Speaking to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe about 2019’s Hurts 2B Human, she described the album’s title track in classic P!nk fashion—welcoming, human, but with an edge: “Everybody is going through something. And the point is, it’s all about your village, it’s all about your people, and the circle you create around you to get through all the bullshit in this world.” - Apple Music

Biography

RAYE

When RAYE speaks of her music, she doesn’t just talk of songs but of “stories”. And the South London singer-songwriter (born Rachel Agatha Keen in 1997) has quite the knack for writing them. Nominated for the Songwriter of the Year Ivor Novello Award in 2022, RAYE first broke through in 2014 with her star-signalling self-released debut EP, Welcome to the Winter, followed by the Stormzy-featuring Second EP two years later. A stream of singles and collaborations, including with Stefflon Don, Mr Eazi and Jax Jones, hinted at an artist who could shape-shift between musical spheres—and excel wherever she landed. But despite such successes (her name has also featured on the credits of songs by artists such as Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, Little Mix and John Legend), RAYE felt trapped behind the scenes. In 2021—just months after the release of her chart-topping dance-pop anthem “BED” alongside Joel Corry and David Guetta—the singer-songwriter wrote on social media that she hadn’t been “allowed” to release her debut album and that she was “sick of being slept on” by her label, an allegation that sent shockwaves through the music industry. And it was then that RAYE returned to those stories, as she came to work on her long-awaited 2023 debut LP, My 21st Century Blues, as an independent artist. On it, she explores being a young woman in music and the trauma of sexual assault and substance abuse, but also the things any woman RAYE’s age might be moved to write about: climate change, relationships ending, falling in love with someone new. “This is about me telling the stories I want to tell, in the order I want to tell them, through the sonic landscape I want to tell them,” RAYE told Apple Music at the time of the album’s release. My 21st Century Blues, she added, wasn’t made with mainstream success in mind, yet that’s exactly what it brought. After the confronting “Hard Out Here.” and the made-for-repeat-listening “Black Mascara.”, she unleashed “Escapism.” featuring 070 Shake, a viral hit on both sides of the Atlantic and the biggest song of RAYE’s up to that point. It signalled, without doubt, that her time had come. “It is just the most beautiful validation,” said RAYE. “To know that you’re right to back yourself when you feel conviction and you feel passionately about something. I made this [album] battling and figuring out freedom, and I’m so excited for the artist I get to become. This has set the tone for me.” - Apple Music

070 Shake

Danielle Balbuena (born June 13, 1997), better known by her stage name 070 Shake, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Aside from her solo career, she is also a member of the musical collective 070, who have released a mixtape together titled The 070 Project: Chapter 1 (2016). Shake would release her debut EP, Glitter, in March 2018. In 2018, Shake gained attention for her involvement with American musician Kanye West's production work in Wyoming, with West later signing her to his GOOD Music imprint. She went on to feature on the songs "Ghost Town" and "Violent Crimes" from West's Ye, as well as appearing on Pusha T's Daytona and Nas' Nasir. Shake released her debut album, Modus Vivendi, in 2020 and released her second album, You Can't Kill Me, in 2022. - Wikipedia

It is 3 decades of relevancy!

Deserved more no1s though after 2008, including Try, Just Give Me A Reason and What About Us!
