Biography

“I think there’s a time in every artist’s life [when] they have to do something that isn’t for fans, isn’t for success, isn’t for touring,” Miley Cyrus told Apple Music in 2018. Cyrus could’ve been speaking about any number of moments from her profoundly varied career. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus—the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus—in Tennessee in 1992, the innovative artist has hardly stayed in one lane for more than a single album since she broke from the bubblegum pop that catapulted her to stardom as Disney’s Hannah Montana. Her 2009 summer anthem “Party In the U.S.A.” earned her a rapid ascent within the pop world, where 2013’s Bangerz—which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Vocal about her pansexuality and love for marijuana, Cyrus has worked hard to shed her wholesome teen image, and simultaneously defied odds by earning a reputation for an intense work ethic and an unshakable self-assuredness. She headed to left-field with the psych-tinged 2015 album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a collaboration with members of The Flaming Lips, and with 2017’s Younger Now, a countrified pop offering that featured godmother Dolly Parton. And she's teamed up with rappers Mike Will Made It and will.i.am, Sarah Barthel of electronic rock group Phantogram, and, in 2018, Mark Ronson for the dramatic hit single “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.” Those frequent partnerships have been major catalysts in the creation of Cyrus' diverse catalog and in the cementing of her status as a pop pace-setter by refusing to let it, or herself, be easily defined. - Apple Music

Biography

Few artists have impacted 21st century rap like Nicki Minaj. Born Onika Tanya Maraj in Trinidad and Tobago in 1982 but raised mostly in Queens, Minaj attended Manhattan’s prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (the inspiration for the movie Fame) before trying to make it as an actor— a past evidenced by the deep performative streak that runs through her music today. Turning to rap in her twenties, Minaj quickly became one of the brightest stars in Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money universe. Her work—shapeshifting, ferocious, cartoonish, and often filled with oddball voices and alter egos—is as capable of breaking hearts (“Super Bass”) as it is detaching heads (her breakout verse on Kanye West’s 2010 “Monster,” in which she arguably outshined both West and fellow guest Jay-Z). Minaj’s electrifying presence has also made her a secret weapon in the pop world, where she's just as likely to share credits with David Guetta and Justin Bieber as Ludacris and Future. On top of her own success, Minaj helped rap—and rap audiences—look past narratives of gritty realism for something fluid and playful, but no less genuine or powerful. Railing against the double standard faced by women in entertainment, the outspoken Minaj once told MTV, “You have to be a beast. That’s the only way they respect you.” - Apple Music

Biography

Sigala

The Norfolk DJ and producer behind a string of house-pop hits in the 2010s, Sigala makes music that’s irresistible due to its joy and exuberance. His flair for songs full of sunny melodies and big energy reflects his solid grounding in soul, funk and pop gained while growing up and playing keyboards in teenage bands in Norwich (where he was born Bruce Fielder in 1992). He discovered his love of engineering and producing while messing about in a makeshift studio he built with a friend. His first chance to show off his playful sensibility was with his 2015 debut, “Easy Love”, on which he memorably repurposed the squeaky voice of the young Michael Jackson from the Jackson 5’s “ABC” into a piece of shiny dance pop. A No. 1 single, it sent Sigala up the ranks of festival DJs and Las Vegas club headliners. On later hits like 2016’s “Ain’t Giving Up” with Craig David and 2017’s “Came Here for Love” with Ella Eyre—both of which featured on his 2018 debut album, Brighter Days—Sigala reached further heights of pleasure and positivity by combining an eminently modern and tropical feel with old-school elements of disco and ‘90s house. A collaboration with The X Factor winner James Arthur, Sigala’s 2020 single “Lasting Lover” saw him build something fun and unique with the help of another borrowed hook: MGMT’s “Time to Pretend”. - Apple Music

Mae Muller

Mae Muller is the most enticing of propositions: a rising songwriting talent intent on telling it precisely like it is. Frank, funny, and endlessly relatable, the Little Mix and Sam Smith-approved singer is breathing new life into pop with her street-smart yet soulful compositions, and empowering others to speak their truths in the process. Dissecting dysfunctional relationships and inconvenient emotions with wit and verve her 2020 EP, no one else, not even you marked a new creative peak for the North Londoner. Sonically, the seven-song collection was a huge step forward too, finding Mae’s supple vocals as suited to trap beats as they are funk guitar or acoustic pop, and featuring songwriting collaborations with Rick Nowels (Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa), Kenny Beats (Aitch, FKA Twigs), Skyler Stonestreet (Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber) and Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran). Mae has gone on to release some incredible collaborative singles in the past year. “Better Days”, a joint single with NEIKED and Polo G, garnered astronomical success across the globe following a viral moment on TikTok. The song has received over 1 billion streams and been certified Platinum in the US & Canada since its release and subsequently saw Mae make her debut in the Billboard Hot 100 with the song climbing to #23. After her sold out UK tour in April, this summer saw Mae take to festival stages across the UK to huge crowds including the likes of Reading & Leeds, Bestival, Isle of Wight and Parklife. - Spotify

Caity Baser

Caity Baser is an English singer-songwriter, originally from Southampton but based in Brighton. She came to public attention in 2022 with her song "X & Y", which went viral on TikTok, and charted at No. 76 on the UK Singles Chart. She then started to become known further in 2023 with other releases including "Pretty Boys", which was playlisted by BBC Radio 1, and entered the UK Singles Chart at No. 91. She was also featured on Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders. - Wikipedia

flowers is soooo mid i dont know why its so big. wish NBLAH or midnight sky or mothers daughter were this big, all theree>>>>>>>>>> flowers
It clearly resonates with a lot of people in a way those others didn't - Midnight Sky comes closest, although that was more of a slow-climbing hit as more people took notice as it went on.

One week at the top would've been enough for Flowers. I don't like it very much.

New entries and new peaks outside the top 40:

46. Jax Jones & Calum Scott - Whistle (+21)

61. Oneheart & Reidenshi - Snowfall (+16)

64. SwitchDisco & Ella Henderson - React (+20)

67. JayO - 22 (NEW)

68. INTERWORLD - METAMORPHOSIS (+10)

69. Lil Uzi Vert & ARIZONATEARS - Watch This (+17)

78. SZA - Low (+5)

88. Karol G & Shakira - TQG (NEW)

97. Gorillaz ft. Adeleye Omatayo - Silent Running (NEW)

Has Stitch really kept his word and is not listening to today's chart?

Yep i did watch 911 lone star and csi vages instead this afternoon last caity baser final top 40 Freya old song came out donkey go so did miss munch

'People' to make top 10 in the next couple of weeks I hope. Also good to see Lizzy get another new peak in the top 10. Don't really care for much around the top 5 but still like 'Flowers' although even that has had enough time now and PP would be a unexpected #1 considering a few weeks ago. I like it but not sure I'd personally want it at #1 either

Not the biggest fan of Flowers

Too gimmicky for me with the lyrics about her ex I care zero about

And the Bruno song interpolation I care even less

So I rather have PP at @1

Which would be fair enough considering the 200k daily lead on Spotify

Thats a more deserving one than Lewis and his fake cd singles :)
