Today marks 25 years since 'Disremembrace' was released as the third single from 'Girl'. The song was produced by Flexifinger who also produced 'Everybody Changes Underwater' and 'Someone New' for the same album. It narrowly missed out on the Top 20 in the UK when it peaked at #21 and reached #53 in Australia.

I used to find the production on this jarring, but I've grown to appreciate it now so I've came around to the song fully over the last few years.

It's quite beautiful, I love the lyrics on it.

*P.S did a double take when I saw 30 years in the thread title

Way up there as one of my favourite tracks, still love this as much as I did then and listen to it often, if only they had followed up AIWD with this
It definitly should have been the follow up to all i wanna do, Disremembrance would be among my fave Dannii songs probably around 5th on my list.
Amazing and def should have been the second single. The remixes are also very good!

Should have been the second single and a smash hit !

A Dannii highlight! I love how this builds from something really ethereal and atmospheric into a high energy, euphoric dance track. Dannii's vocal and lyrics compliment the music so well too. I think dance music really excels when there's a melancholy feel to it and 'Disremembrance' really tugs at the heartstrings. Absolutely agree that this should have been the immediate follow-up to 'All I Wanna Do'.

This - after the excitement/surprise at AIWD being a Top 5 hit I had such high expectations for the chart success of this era and it all went downhill rather rapidly due to some poor choices :nocheer:

I think it perhaps would have been a better second choice than 'Everything I Wanted', but I honestly feel like 'All I Wanna Do's success was a fluke (as the album bombing showed) and I'm not altogether convinced 'Disremembrace' would've gotten her into the top 10 either.

I think it's hard to say considering with the odd release pattern the album and Everything I Wanted had - with that said, Eternal struck me as having the same issues as AATW (and other dance labels), ie they knew how to roughly market hit singles but were completely lost when it came to albums. I think Disrememberence would've at least gotten more airplay if released after All I Wanna Do; if that had led to more success for the song that Everything I Wanted is something we can only speculate on, but I'd like to think it might've ended up in the lower top ten (the album still would've bombed though).

‘Girl’ really didn’t have a chance - it was released 4 weeks after AIWD so people only had that 1 song to go off to decide if they wanted to invest £12+ in an album, Dannii had not had a hit for several years prior to AIWD so they almost needed to build up to the release of ‘Girl’ with at least 2 singles and promo before they dropped the album - I don’t for one minute think it would have been a runaway success but certainly could have done much better.

Yeah, I think no matter what they released after All I Wanna Do would've given Girl a chance / longer chart-run with the odd release pattern. With that said, I do think she could've scored another hit single or two; Movin' Up might not be a fan favourite, but it always felt like it was stuck onto there as a safe hit. I can't help but think Everything I Wanted was chosen due to Dannii's boyfriend at the time shooting the video for cheap.

All I wanna do

Disremembrance (Album Launch)

So in love with yourself

Someone new

Should have been the single run IMO

It was such a sloppy campaign at that time

Very sloppy and unfortunately for Dannii totally mismanaged that killed of the momentum she had got with all I wanna do.
I always felt there was someone in the industry that was sabotaging Dannii. Not sure why

I think it was more a case of poor record companies

MCA - After the success of ‘Love & Kisses’ album they didn’t know what to do when era 2 started underperforming

Eternal - Had no idea how to build a career and rush released ‘Girl’ after 1 single and then struggled with what to do next when it stalled

London - Dannii’s best label but went bankrupt at the peak of her career

AATW - They were a great ‘singles’ label but had no idea how to build a album career - that’s why they partnered with Universal for the N-Dubz album releases. So many of their female artists stalled under their guidance

I know AATW are generally not seen as a label to establish a successful album campaign or whatever, but I'm still genuinely confused how they could think farting out one single a year and then eventually just pushing out a Greatest Hits collection was in any way logical.
^^ They seemed to treat her the same as all their dance acts like Ultrabeat etc., - 2 singles 11 months apart and an album, the fact she was with them during her XF time too, they could have absolutely smashed it.
