11-52-59-54-... so far.

Honestly, not too bad as it's at least staying stable. Unfortunately, the disadvantage of going all out in week one is that they don't have anything to boost it at this point.

It is dead already, I cant see BBC radio playlisting it for much longer it lingering outside the top 50. Same with apple music.
She’s planning on dropping an r&b version of this song first. She’s also been hinting she’s been in rehearsals for a performance.
62 in today's mids.

It could remain in this region of the chart for a while.

The release of a few remixes might help it for a short period.

I am really loving her new song and it's a great sound for her.
Do we know the sales so far?

My estimate is 45,000 as of Friday 14th July!

Yeah the song is dead. Any remixes or features should have been released weeks ago.

Single number 2 out ASAP Leigh....

This is the issue with throwing everything at week one to make it a top ten hit - there was nothing to boost it once it briefly stabilised in the 50s. It could've used the extra boost and exposure then and now it's just a bit too little, too late.

Well if "everything" wasn't thrown in week one, it would likely not have been a top 20 hit.

#11 peak isn't that bad to be fair. Same peak of Love Me Like You and Hair. I'd rather have an 11-52-59-54-35-40-45... up to 10-15 weeks on the charts, than 43-52-59-54-25-30-60... Not that it makes much difference regardless. BUT she has a top 20 hit.

Again, was everything really thrown in week one? If that was the case, the remixes and ft would have been out same week.

I think the approach they've used is fair enough. With the remix(es), some stability can be maintained, whilst bagging her top 20 hit.

I also think it should be said that LM was already on their natural decline before they went on hiatus. At their peak, they weren't an act that spurned out back-to-back #1 hits. So if we go by the unwritten rule that group members usually underperform in comparison to their original group, then her peak of #11 ain't that bad.

Not all Spice Girls members had #1 singles, yet The Spice Girls had 9 #1s out of their total of 10 singles at the time!

I also think it should be said that LM was already on their natural decline before they went on hiatus.

Why do people keep saying this? Is it because Love (Sweet Love) and No flopped?

Again, in the 18 months prior to their split announcement they had five Platinum singles with one of them (Sweet Melody) being a number one, and the other four (Break Up Song, Confetti, Heartbreak Anthem, Kiss My Uh Oh) being top ten. They also had a Gold (soon to be Platinum) hit with Holiday, another Silver single with No Time For Tears and the Confetti album went to number 2 and had been a consistent seller and in the top 40 for almost the entire year. They also won a Brit Award and the Between Us album has been in the top 40 since November 2021 (aside from two weeks) with their farewell tour being massive.

I'm not sure why people keep making these subtle putdowns of their success and claiming they were drying up and losing relevancy just because two singles (that were their 8th and 9th in a span of 18 months and had no performances) flopped. Even them managing to scrape the top 40 at all considering the circumstances was a success.

Also they were constantly in the media for Jesy leaving (one of the biggest entertainment stories of the year), her solo career and the 'fued' stuff, Leigh and Perrie's pregnancies and birth and I think it's safe to say people were sick of the sight of them and needed a break from their overexposure. Nobody can get away with that level of success and media coverage for that long and not expect something underperforming at some point.

I think she should go down the Becky Hill route and keep on releasing singles and doing collabs. She'll start to build up her discography and gets some hits here and there.

The worst thing she could do is wait another 4-6 months to release single 2.

Not making a "put down" of their success. Their achievements are clearly not questionable. I don't think it's unreasonable to say an act is declining if their last 2 singles flopped massively, and the four before those two were features.

If an artiste has attained a certain status, they can be on a decline in terms of music/chart success but still make headlines. The likes of Mariah Carey/Janet Jackson/etc are unlikely to have hits like they did decades ago, but still make headlines.

But the crux of the post is that we probably expected too much from this song. Not that the song isn't good, but I probably got carried away by the successes of the group, thus expected much better chart performance from DSL. But in actual sense, its performance shouldn't really have been a surprise based on all I wrote above (plus she was the least-favoured in the group). Even if it bounces back, I doubt it can still make top 10.
