Yeah, Tina was one of those artists who always did better with her albums than singles - although she does of course have lots of well-remembered and iconic singles. It's a shame she never got a UK #1. She was massive in the UK in the late 80s and early 90s though.

Yeah I suppose back then and at times now even, chart position isn't always reflective if how impactful an artist is.
Promotion and support is basically the same thing?

promotion

noun

"activity that supports or encourages a cause, venture, or aim."

synonym - support

Spotify playlisting is arguably the most successful form of promotion these days outside of TikTok.

So what if Eyes Closed spend 8 weeks in the top 10? It has been on top of every popular streaming and radio playlist possible, I wouldn't expect anything less. 8 weeks top 10 vs 8 weeks #1 of previous 3 lead singles. His least successful lead single since 2014. Almost 50% decline in album sales since his 2021 album, there's no denying that this era is flop for Sheeran's standards.

If you believe every song supported on streaming services will be huge then theres countless examples of songs that dont.

And going by your rationale every lead single that isnt no1 for 4+ weeks must be a flop?

Tbf I just looked at her discography for her singles oops

It was also impressive as her biggest hits (arguably) were when she was in her early 50s! Something you rarely see nowadays!

Did I say any of that? No

The Ed Sheeran defence squad strikes again lol

The Ed Sheeran defence squad strikes again lol

Hardly a defence squad when I respond to ridiculous statements and they are by the same posters, maybe your the anti-Ed Sheeran squad?

Did I say any of that? No

You tried to say that because he’s supported on Spotify he’s guaranteed success which I pointed out is t always the case. You also said that because he didn’t have multiple weeks at no1 like his last lead single he’s flopped which I refuted that this doesn’t mean he’s flopped. So every lead single he releases has to be no1 for multiple weeks or it’s a failure. I’m not sure that’s a fair statement to make considering his current lead still peaked at no1. Listen to Eyes Open and Bad Habits and I think you’ll find that’s another huge factor - they are completely different styles of song.

Cheesy Fad is OBSESSED with charts, full of Spotify payola, and for him success was massive hits cloggin up the charts like cheese in arteries. Now he SCRAPED - remember, SCRAPED!!!! and with CDS!!!!, bought by super fans who hadn't even HEARD the musical rabble yet - for one week and that's it. Flop!

With all due respect, don't put words in mouth. This is Payola Sheeran we're talking about with a current Spotify playlist reach of 1.3 BILLION.

This album is on 94k after 2 weeks

His album 2 years ago was on 186k after 2 weeks

The decline has been HUGE. Deal with it!

The best song from Renaissance, "Heated" is new (well reentry) in the Top 200  I've seen it gone semi viral on Tik Tok so hope it can blow up more!!

Also agreed about Jazzy, I could understand it it had literally ANYTHING to it but it's so bland and lifeless. Bizarre that it's taking off imo!

That’s not how you spell ‘SUMMER RENAISSANCE’!

Tina on Apple Music:

11 What's Love Got To Do With It

12 Proud Mary

23 & 35 The Best

60 River Deep - Mountain High (Ike & Tina Turner)

76 & 113 We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)

93 It's Only Love (w/ Bryan Adams)

98 I Don't Wanna Fight

99 & 125 Private Dancer

122 Let's Stay Together

Assuming 'The Best' would be her top song when combined - I was surprised at it not being her highest on Spotify but I see it has 2 versions on Spotify too which have pretty similar total streams so I guess the second version is probably not far outside the top 200. Pretty good showing for only a few hours of post-news streams on Spotify anyway, could see her having a few in the top 10 tomorrow? Hope they'll hold well enough for her to have something entering the top 40 next week.

The Ed Sheeran defence squad strikes again lol

How dare anybody acknowledge his huge decline, then defence squad jumps out to sugarcoat the facts with small irrelevant glories, like fastest selling album of the year, a single that spend 8 weeks top 10 (astonishing!), it's his "non-mainstream" project

I love how we have the "Ed Sheeran defence squad" and the "Anti-Ed Sheeran squad" like it's some kind of war or something.

No one is saying it’s not a decline but is it a flop?

Yes Eyes Closed has been top 10 for 8 weeks and another no1 single, just simply pointing out the facts about that before you post more biased BS.

I was really hoping K!tchen would experience a huge surge in streams in the wake of Tina's passing...

Tina, Tina, Tina, turn it up :music:
