Im going with yes, i never thought it would happen for Kylie and part of me still thinks it isnt real so my point is sometimes you just never know, id love to see them have a Kylie moment.
Doubt it - while I like steps, they don’t have as broad appeal as Kylie.
A betting person would say no and there market is a lot more niche than kylie but never say never. Many thought steps woukd be nothing more than a one hit wonder so stranger things have happened.
I think unfortunately they are past that point now - they deliver the bops but I’m not sure they have the crossover appeal potential?

I don't think anyone of that ilk will be having a their own 'Padam' for many many years, it's that much of a rarity.

Although you could maybe argue 'Scared of the Dark' was that for them on a smaller scale?

SOTD was their ‘Dancing’ moment - just making the Top 40 but it felt like a massive achievement and the success of the song felt bigger than its chart placement.

Obviously who knows nothing is “impossible” but I don’t see it and as stated above Kylie has a much broader range of fans than Steps.

Steps have released some brilliant singles that really deserved better. Kylie has got very lucky with padam.padam. don't get me wrong it's great but she has had some equally good songs in the last few that deserve the same success but didn't get it.

I've gone for a No.

I think that although Kylie has done well, and we've had Elton and Britney in the Top 10 (albeit on a collaboration), I do think it's more difficult for a group to do the same.

As others have said, Kylie has a broad appeal, whereas Steps have very much fallen into that "Fanbase only" kind of trap.

Could you ever see a Kygo/Joel Corry type mash up using s Steps song, that could be a way of them getting into the charts.

No, but that’s ok!

They are ‘niche’ and their focus don’t seem on the singles reaching the charts. The only possibility was a top 75 with ‘The slightest touch’ (out of the singles that didn’t chart).

Its an awful shame the slightest touch didnt or at the least make top 100 as it had a chance.

A lack of a proper video, along side no cd singles is to blame for this.

Maybe steps don’t want to do the cd singles anymore?

I've gone for yes - and why the hell not I say!

Having been to my first show of theirs last year and seeing just how wide their audience was - people my age of course, but also teenagers, kids, older people - I'd say there's definitely potential for them to have a "Padamoment" (I'm going with this).

I dare say that in anticipation of such a moment that Peter Loraine and Fascination will now beaver away trying to find a song that has the wide connection this has had. And OK, you could argue that with "Padam Padam" it's been a perfect storm that's hard to replicate.

But if this gives hope to other pop acts of a certain vintage to do the same, then there's nothing wrong with that. The charts will always throw up obstacles that work more to the favour of current acts than they do older ones. But they're not insurmountable if you have the right song and strategy in place.
