Ooh, I remember being blown away by 'Little Red Monkey' in your thread reviewing every top 40 hit, Julian (clavioline usage so far in advance of 'Telstar'?!), nice one giving it some airtime  'Mr Sandman' also a great choice of bonus.

Shame I missed Percy Faith, will have to put that on now as a pre-bedtime wind down song. I expect Father's Day plans will be around lunch time so hopefully see you guys in 2 weeks then ^_^

Oh we’ll repeat that at 16:00 sharp next time! :D

Remember to vote in the Week 1 poll in the Retro forum if you haven’t already!

We’ve decided to slightly shake up the way we choose the track to play from the #1 album.

We’ll play either the track given by Bray’s formula (highest Spotify streams subject to not being a Top 2 hit), or the highest charting track within the UK Top 100 where applicable.

In many cases the two methods will give the same answer - that will certainly be the case for the likely #1 album this coming week.

However in the Foo Fighters’ case there is a difference. “Under You” entered the chart at #98 but “Rescued” is the most streamed on Spotify thanks to having been a pre album single. So which would you prefer to hear?

I'm continuing to keep my #1 albums Spotify playlist updated with the same criteria (so 'Rescued' added for last week) but no worries if you want to switch it up a bit. Of course it's pretty much always going to be lead singles appearing on my playlist as I update it on the go since there generally won't be enough time for other songs to overtake. And I guess it'll be 'Heaven' for Niall either way.

Here's the link to the playlist if anyone wants to save it btw! (I did post it in the thread for the sessions at one point but it's a bit buried). There ended up being 11 #1 albums which don't have any tracks available on Spotify, and I also made the executive decision to not include Lostprophets (although I did include the Minstrels songs for now, I may or may not remove them at some point, I've been shuffling this playlist a couple of times recently and as of yet none of those have come on x)

No strong feelings re: which FF song to play

'The Girl From Ipanema' to get an RIP slot for Astrud Gilberto this week?

Yes we'll give The Girl From Ipanema a play as an RIP.

In Sunday's second session, we'll cover another 61 #2s - as many as the week before - however with the turnover a little faster, this will take us about two years fewer, ending in late 1965.

We also have a new record 172 songs for you to choose from for the bonus section. Plenty of these are fairly well known, so we haven't done recommendations this time. As before, you are welcome to nominate up to five of these, from any combination of #3s, #4s and #5s, and we'll play the ones which get the most votes:

I know we already played it recently as a Burt Bacharach tribute (and no one else has mentioned it so fair if it doesn't get played again x) but 'Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa' is my favourite of the (still very few) songs I recognise from this list.

I'll give another vote to 'Be My Baby' and 'I Only Want To Be With You' too (and 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' as well if we don't mind playing 2 Dusty songs).

Think I’ll avoid politics related Jamelia slots, though Once I Caught A Fish Alive for Sturgeon is also tempting.

Coldplay - ‘Daddy’ for Father’s Day? :P

(speaking of which, I’m still out so may miss the start of this after all but definitely not the whole thing again)

I endorse this since 'Daddy' didn't get a play at the #1 albums sessions x (I did consider playing it as an opener since the album was the last one in its week but went with 'Everyday Life' instead)

Starting at 4 sharp:

Hopefully this will now be a permanent room when I'm hosting.

We've decided to change the repeat rule so that the winner of last time's poll is repeated instead of the last #2 of the last session. Of course this time they're the same track. :magic:
