I would utterly love them to go ALL out for Chemistry to get it into the top 10, it's criminal it missed out!

This - and the fans would get behind it to give it a new peak.

They could do so much to get it Top 10.

Of all the re-releases I’d love Chemistry to go top ten for that reason and for the fans to really rally behind it! If all their albums had a top ten peak it would feel so special

I wonder if Out of Controls may do the best with it being the highest selling (although part of me thinks Tangled Up because it’s the fan favourite).

Midweek #21 today by the way! It can't have sold all that much yesterday. I'm thinking maybe 2,900 is what it's sold up to this point.
They should've released individual member CDs to boost numbers as hardcore fans would've bought all 5.

This - even a 500 limited 5 CD and 5 Cassette bundle featuring all members would have sold to the hardcores and generated significant sales!

I also think not as hardcore fans would likely have bought a copy of their favourite member too alongside the group one. I can see Sarah being quite a popular one for sad reasons obviously.

#28 today.

Thank you! :D Was this shared elsewhere or is it information you had?

I think we can wave goodbye to it being Top 30 tomorrow, but I think it's likely done enough to stay Top 40.

Let's create a silver lining: the 2003 re-release didn't go Top 40, whereas this probably will :cheer: (if we just ignore the fact that the 2003 re-release sold 26,000 first week, consistently sold around that much for all of December... while this new version will be 3,000 :kink: )

I'd say they will have enough to stay top 40 fingers crossed. I had initially hoped for much higher but it would be great to see them back in the top 40.

#10 on sales chart.

I’m glad we got a reissue and it’s been a special week and such a great item to collect as a fan but another week top 40 would’ve been lovely! A little surprised it just missed out on another week top 40 but I think it just needed that extra push / word of mouth promo from somewhere but it’s still been a great week for the fans to remember where it all began :D

Ohhh no, I thought it would hold on! :(

Well, all we can hope is that the label is happy with it. It’s not like there was a massive push for it and it’s not exactly their most celebrated album either.

Other positions:

#5 - Vinyl chart

#9 - Physical chart

#10 - Sales chart

#67 - Download chart

100 sales behind #40

It barely increased since the Tuesday midweek, when it was on 2,778 sales. In the whole week it sold 2,925 copies... 147 copies in 3 days.

In the Tuesday midweek the split was 1,723 Vinyl, 964 CDs, 54 downloads, 37 streaming. Streaming could have doubled at least, so maybe around 100 pure sales in the past 3 days.

New total is 380,885, so it would have been 377,960 last Friday. An older total of 372,193 was shared on 2nd August 2019. 372,193 to 377,960 is an increase of 5,767 in 202 weeks, that's 28.5 sales a week on average. So this week it certainly experienced an increase in streaming compared to what it was generally achieving over the past few years. In May 2022, OCC shared that it was on 376,000 sales.

I'm amazed that no one predicted this result. 0 votes for "lower than Top 40". :o

I did find it quite amusing that the album re-entered at the same position as the reissue with the white cover and "Jump" and "Girls On Film" did when that came out in December 2003 ^_^

Predictably, over on Popjustice they've descended into doomsayers catastrophising this and saying the other reissues won't happen.

Let's be realistic for a second here; this is their least successful or fondly remembered album, all things considered. Not great that it was so front loaded at the start of the week, true. But on balance, for a 20 year old album that had already sold over 300k, it's not a bad result. Peter and Fascination obviously - and quite rightly - didn't want to overdo it with the formats, particularly since the more successful albums are still to come.

I am sure that they A) won't be scrapping this reissues series altogether and B) that we'll get the other video remasters in due course. Chris Fox dropped the hint on the post from the No Good Advice video that it was on the way, anyway!
