Hmm, Capital have playlisted Popular though and it got good placements on playlists so I can’t see why it wouldn’t be considered a single.

Capital are known to occasionally play songs which aren't singles (or at least haven't been announced as official singles yet). Having said that, I can see 'Popular' being playlisted by R1 if it does get sent to them for consideration.

The Weeknd is doing weekly releases from The Idol now and it's still very soon after the lead single, I would not be surprised if it just hasn't been sent to R1 for consideration (at least not yet). Again pointing to the Shania Twain feature on the playlist right now as evidence that they don't just blanket ignore songs merely for featuring older artists. (Also 'they're playing a Madonna collab to justify not playing another Madonna collab' is certainly one of the odder takes I've seen here lol - nothing obligates them to play either of them)

Looks like this J Hus song is going to be a much bigger hit than 'It's Crazy' so fair that R1 are moving onto it quickly although oof at 'It's Crazy' just being fully dropped after only 2 weeks on the B-List rather than getting a joint playlisting! I wonder if R1 knew he had another single out so soon, I was surprised at 'It's Crazy' not being instant A-Listed. Also poor Lewis Capaldi going from a joint playlisting to nothing in the span of just a couple of weeks!

Great to see Bring Me The Horizon and Harry up to the A-List (btw just realised 'Satellite' is spelt wrong in the OP!) and cool that ANOTR has finally been added too.

To clarify I meant more in general I find it odd that the Madonna song they’ve finally chosen to play is the worst one she’s released in the past decade! I know Sam is everything to do with that but Popular is the much better song with an even higher profile lead artist which they’ve seemingly decided to snub

Thanks, not sure how I managed such a colossal misspelling of it!

I mean, they have Vulgar as "Tune of the Weekend", so there's no blanket ban on her.

Or should that be a 'collosall misppelinng'

I wish they’d remove David Kushner and add Nathan Dawe. Silly of R1 not to add Nathan seeing that it’s screaming summer hit and it’s already being played everywhere

I also expected to see the Luude/Bru-C/Kevin Lyttle song added for the same reasons!

Tune of the Week

Greg James: PinkPantheress - Angel

Rickie, Melvin and Charlie: J Hus feat. Drake - Who Told You

Dean and Vicky: Patrick Topping feat. Might Delete Later - Make Me Happy

Feels so weird that this track has been in my life for two years now, and all the twists and turns it's had to get here!

I had no idea how 'old' it was. Arielle also played it this morning and mentioned it was from a couple of years back

Yeah, it was one of my favourite tracks of summer 2021, but then it suddenly disappeared from all platforms due to a sample clearance issue. It's been a long journey getting back here!
