Voted for Shania, a decent song for what it is considering I'm not a fan of country music, but definitely the weakest here.

This makes me wonder if you've only heard the country version and not the UK Dance Mix hit version? Or is that version still considered a country song at its heart?

True^ the version I'm most familiar with I wouldn't class as country at all.

 

And I do like the song, but this is very strong list for this year.

'That Don't Impress...' is a classic but I do prefer other songs by Shania!

It has the exact same vocals no? (the vocals are what I usually don't like about country music)

 

If anything I think I like the 'country version' slightly more, having done a quick iTunes preview. I'm not sure which one is the one I know, they don't sound that different to me, can still clearly hear the country roots behind the dance beat on the international version.

Oh interesting… having been familiar with the UK Dance Mix since 1999 (the version that made it a hit here) and not hearing the country version until many years later, I think there’s a stark constant between them. The version I grew up with just seemed like a pop hit through and through. The vocals are the same but I feel like the production is such that it strips away the country vibe.
