All Barbie songs should be allowed to chart in the singles chart without restrictions

same as they did for Black Panther

might be a silly question

do the streams of songs on NOW compilation albums count for the individual artist too for chart purposes?

Dua now #2 on Apple overtaking Olivia! Lizzo and I’m Just Ken are top 100 there now too

They only count to the individual songs, Now! style compilations don't have any streaming sales attributed to them.

Wow fair play to dua, it really is taking off and it could defo end up being a top 3 hit at this rate

It’s a shame as the song hasn’t really clicked with me and I can’t get fully into it, I just find it slightly boring

i agree. i do like the song and its catchy enough but its missing something for me. i like it when i hear it but i dont actively go to play it

Dance The Night is catchy AF and expertly crafted pop song.

- instantly impactful and memorable string melody

- great pop lyrics "pull my outfit so tight, you can feel my heartbeat tonight"

- great vocals, the low notes in the verses, the high note near the end

- amazing "watch me!! DAAAAAAHNSS! Dance The night away!" hook

- amazing outro "I can dance... I can dance... I can... DANCE THE NIGHT!!!!!!"

A soundtrack single to the Barbie film was never gonna be a game changer like her previous era but Dance The Night fits Barbie perfectly. The sound makes sense. That's why I think it's having such a positive boost now. It reminds me of New Rules a little bit, in the sense that people didn't particularly care about that song when the album was out but after the music video was released, it suddenly clicked and made sense.

the movie release having a huge impact, Barbie World is up to #5 on Apple!

Apple:

2 dua Lipa

5 Nicki Minaj & ice Spice

9 Billie

41 Charli XCX

72 I'm Just Ken

85 Lizzo - Pink

116 Aqua

131 Sam Smith

I do hope she moves to a different style on her new album when it comes out though.

As it has been such a box office success, this was inevitable. But great marketing regardless, giving a minor hit to Charli XCX is not a small feat :P

I enjoy 'Dance the Night', but you're seriously over-egging the pudding here. It's a pretty basic song.

^maybe too late in the tracklist?
Billie has leapfrogged all the other Barbie tracks and is now 3! Barbie World 4, Dua 5. Charli up to an amazing 17 and I’m Just Ken in at 20!

Maybe I'm just biased but I think it's got a lot more going for it than the average Spotipop track

So happy for Ken! Also 121 WW and 66 in ths US.
I hope Billie does end up having the highest charting hit from Barbie but I am also here for Dua matching the top ten record for British females B-)

I bought the Barbie CD the other day, there's so many highlights on it, what a great pop soundtrack.

Dance The Night is nothing revolutionary in the grand scheme of Dua's brilliant career but is definitely a very solid track that I really enjoy. And if it's the final disco influenced single from her, it's a very nice final chapter for that sound.

Billie's track is my favourite from her in some time - beautiful, I love the unexpected Celtic influence on the PinkPantheress track, more solid Europop from Ava Max, a fun Janet sample from Fifty Fifty, Charli melding together Robyn and Toni Basil, the viral moment from Ryan, Aqua back in the charts (of course they had to be part of this soundtrack somehow) - I hope to see as many songs from the soundtrack smash as possible.

A lot of the songs were utilised so well in the movie. I was actually pretty impressed how well majority of them were used and weren't just background fodder during a restaurant kind of scene for example.

In terms of songs, 'The Man I Am' is SOOOOO good. I am shocked how much I love it as I cannot abide Sam Smith 95% of the time. But thankfully, they're not wailing so much on this track. I obviously adore Ryan's 'I'm Just Ken' and I bop to just about everything else tbh, which is bizarre because outside of this soundtrack I'm not so much a fan of these artists music that are included (Lizzo, HAIM, Billie, Dua, Ice Spice, Charli - all except Ice - have a few songs I like, but in general I find them all a bit too overrated personally) but I think their songs for the most part fit the soundtrack really well.
