August 10, 20231 yr Musically I always felt dannii could have taken far more advantage of her time on the show, she was a popular judge and could of benefited more from it than she did.
August 10, 20231 yr It annoyed me during the X Factor time it always felt like Dannii was hiding from her pop career. Yeah she kept saying it's about the contestants, but ever other judge 10/10 brought their music to the show.

Cheryl, even though I'm not a fan of her rightly took complete advantage which she benefited from and it frustrated me when Dannii was the opposite.
August 11, 20231 yr Maybe things stood in Dannii’s way to perform in 2007. I’m not sure if she would have needed it to be stipulated in her contract to be able to be considered for a performance. At this point there wasn’t really any precedent of “judge on the show also performs on the show” either, so perhaps in that year it was never a consideration. I think the Cheryl situation was pretty different. She launched her solo career in her second season on the show, she was a fresh artist coming off the back of Girls Aloud being massive, and still only 26 years old at the time, she was a major label artist - so I guess negotiating being a guest performer wasn’t going to be a difficulty. Let’s just say that Dannii’s music career was in a very different place to Cheryl’s when she signed up for The X Factor. It seems to me that after Touch Me Like That, that Dannii’s focus was to solidify herself as a television personality and that she didn’t have the interest in music anymore. Edit: How did we even get onto this subject in the 1995 sessions topic?
August 11, 20231 yr Author It seems to me that after Touch Me Like That, that Dannii’s focus was to solidify herself as a television personality and that she didn’t have the interest in music anymore. Yes, definitely! In my mind that is the last time she properly released music and since this has all but abandoned her music career. It will always baffle me how Radio 1 at the time made a big deal of premiering the single, then didn't playlist it and by the time it was released it was like it had been forgotten about entirely (least of all by Dannii herself)
August 21, 20231 yr ^^ ‘Touch Me Like That’ was such an odd moment, I remember it flopping in the charts despite Dannii being on prime time TV and she didn’t even give it a mention. It was like it was released as a contractual obligation and both Dannii and the label were over it and just threw it out hoping to gain some sales off of the back of the XF.
August 22, 20231 yr ^ they gave up on TMLT when radio didnt playlist it Pretty much. Early on there seemed to be optimism around it, but then radio didn't playlist it and they just shuffled it under the rug, probably not wanting to harm Dannii's new found tv popularity.
