Annabel has absolutely SMASHED it over the past 3 weeks or so :wub:

It may be just me but I think the singers on strictly are awful generally but I agree tonight and that song in particular was painful

Layton and Nikita in trouble? This could be a shock elimination

Don't agree with the bottom two. Shame Angela S went.

Laytons done rather well to get up to now without a dance off but it was always going to happen as soon as they were mid position on the leaderboard as we see with the “ringer” of the series each year.

 

I feel like both Layton and Angela were given pretty woeful routines and in Laytons case an awful choice of music for that style of dance too. The critique of wanting it more smooth but giving a song choice like that.

Nigel has now withdrawn!

Oops not this happening to my favourites again after AJ/Kai a couple of years ago 😭 hope he’s okay!

He must be feeling so gutted! Not another two person final as well (hoping there’s no elimination this week as a result but can they cancel scheduled shows?)

Oh wow, so close to the final! I think he would have won too.

 

I can’t see why they can’t cancel the elimination and results show, and just show a repeat of something to fill the slot. As the results aren’t filmed as a separate show I can’t see why not, they’d just stop earlier tonight instead of carrying on after the live show.

Layton's Paso...I was FLOORED. Incredible. Dance of the series for me I think!

 

I really didn't like Bobby this week :drama: I found the dance so awkward.

Before the show begun I’d have predicted a Layton 40 tonight following the dance off last week.

 

Don’t get me wrong he’s good but every dance feels like a show dance and not necessarily the dance that they’re supposedly doing -_-

On the contrary, every Layton performance slaps me round the face and reminds me just how phenomenally talented he is. He won't win because the public are terrible but he truly deserves to! I can't pretend I know anything about the dances but the judges (Craig in particular) would surely point it out if he wasn't adhering to the confines of the specific dance (and fairly sure they did, in the early weeks). Layton simply makes each dance his own, and his 40 tonight feels long overdue!

Just catching up after a busy day yesterday and Layton and Nikita really were incredible! Transferring my Nigel/Katya votes to them now ❤️

Semi final dances;

 

Annabel & Johannes: Salsa & Viennese Waltz

Bobby & Dianne: Paso Doble & Quickstep

Ellie & Vito: Cha-Cha-Cha & Couple’s Choice

Layton & Nikita: Charleston & Rumba

 

 

Bit disappointed to get the impression that Layton is 4th fave with the public (strictly spoiler poll and comments on social media)

Layton and Nikita’s Charleston was so fabulous 😍 a final without them would be a travesty but I’m sure they’ll be fine either way as they could out-dance anyone in the dance-off

 

I was a bit disappointed by the direction for Ellie and Vito’s Couple’s Choice, those two songs didn’t flow very well together for me and made it fall a bit flat. I’m sure they’ll also be fine anyway!

A semi final dance off I don’t really like. I know it’s the rules and has been for many series but for example

 

Layton could get 1 off the public which is 5 as a total score right as he was top tonight.

 

But Annabel would need to top the public vote to not be in the dance off?

 

It makes it very hard to not be in it if you’re the judges least favourite basically. Even if she’s second top with public her score will only be four because there were no ties.

 

 

Keep the dance off until the quarter finals would be my ideal scenario.

 

 

Bobby had a great night tonight for me.

 

Layton I’m indifferent towards but I won’t go into that B-)

 

Ellie’s been my favourite overall I’d say so I’ll be voting for her in the final I think. (Which I imagine she’ll make with ease I think she’s likely topping the vote now).

 

Annabel definitely the biggest journey contestant not just this series but in some time I’d say! I’d have never had her down as a semi finalist (and she’d have been a finalist in another series as there usually is four in the final).

Layton's Charleston...h o l y s h i t. I'll let the dust settle but I think it may go down as one of my favourite all time Strictly dances.

Layton really should win, that Charleston (and everything else this season) has been sublime!
