You might call it desperate but if you're a big fan of the artist, imagine the prospect of them doing a gig at your house! I think they're great tactics :D
Imagine if Taylor does that
I fully expect Polydor to be dusting off those spare cassettes right about now.

Assuming Charli xcx is number 10?
The Sherlocks are now doing a competition for a free concert at your home + other prizes if you order their album today.

no point Sherlocks, you're too far behind :D
If this "concerts in your home" thing is the hot new trend, then I'm even more excited about Kylie's impending album!

Can you imagine Ms Minogue rocking up to your house to sing for you? :D

by the way Calvin’s CDs have shipped today so expect him to go top ten now.

Top 10 in tomorrow’s chart? Or next week

I think The Sherlocks are probably aware their chance has gone, although the chance to get extra sales is good for their bank accounts, they are a small outfit, managed by one of the dads etc.

Imagine if Taylor does that

Taylor would need to do several gigs in my house as I have pale blue, mahogany, sunset orange, leaf green and blood moon marble variants of painted rooms to choose from

She could perform hits from the era corresponding to the wall colour of each room.

He's definitely had his share of real misfires over the years.

has he though? Apart from the Fun Wav eras which were obviously less commercial, I can't think of a single that hasn't smashed. Maybe there's been the odd top 20 hit rather than top 10 but definitely no flops.

I don't think we can say "no" flops. Few flops for sure, but he's had some. Big name collab Over Now which was a low top 40 hit could certainly fit the "flop" description (or at least "severe underperformance"), or non-album track Nuh Ready Nuh Ready peaking at #48, not great for a brand new (at the time) Calvin song!

Of course, if we look at the Funk Wav Bounces stuff too, Funk Wav Vol 2's post-album single Obsessed was a #71 smasher, and Vol 1's post-album single Faking It got to #97. I know post-album singles are harder to score hits with these days but they still didn't show any real signs of being hits at all (and both of those eras showed this sound can create hits, notably Vol 1's smashes Slide and Feels).

None of these have had any impact on his lasting success which is really impressive and he always claws it back but he definitely has had the odd flop over the years. Still, an insane hit record on the whole that most artists would be gagging for!
