So our first round is done, thank you to all those that took part.

We say goodbye to the following themes:

Unknown Artists [8 votes, 14.04%]

Club Bizarre Rejects [15 votes, 26.32%]

And here we go with Round 2! To confirm you are voting for the next theme of Club Bizarre to be hosted in October.

Rules

  • There will be several rounds where we will vote for themes to be knocked out like a singles survivor until we have our winner
  • You must only vote for your TWO least favourite themes in this round. Please do not vote for any more than this to keep it fair.
  • You have until 23:59 (BST) on 15/09/23 to vote in this round.
  • You are free to reveal your nomination choice now should you wish to or keep it a secret, it's up to you.
Theme Explanations

*Techno & Artistic/Experimental Electronica - Artistic electronic music so may not necessarily have a big drop or sound 'dated'. It sounds a bit more atmospheric

*DJ / Producer Who Sings - This theme requires participant to send a dance / electronic song that was also sung by the producer / DJ (e.g. Calvin Harris). If it is a group then all members of the group must sing (e.g. not Pendulum where only one person sings)

*Celebrating the Rise of Woman & Non-Binary People in Music - To celebrate the rising levels of equality within the business. People could choose to submit either a classic dance vocalist, an early pioneer or one of the increasing numbers of female/non-binary DJs and producers who are becoming more prominent

*Dance by Definition - Songs that make you want to get up and dance, have dance moves/instructions, could even be workout anthems

*Transformations - Remixes, covers, samples, interpolations, reworks etc. that completely transform the original piece. Highlighting the transformative nature of dance and electronic music and its ability to shapeshift and inspire future generations of music.

*Classic / Original Electronica - in terms of the original 90s definition. Something less high energy but with prominent uses of electronic instruments, synths and ambience. Think Moby and Massive Attack primarily.

*Halloween - dark, spooky, gothic dance music

*Dance Till You're Dead - tracks from artists in the dance world that have died, including posthumous releases

There are so few of these I'd want to enter, so shame to see 'unknown' leave in the first round, as broad a category as it is.

Voted Happy Hardcore and Dance by Definition.

TV Themes isn't me, but would be fun if a bit limited x

Voted DJ/Producer Who Sings and Dance by Definition, the descriptor for the latter feels a bit generic idk?

I went for album tracks (bit limiting I guess to those acts who actually have an album) and TV Theme Tune Dance Remixes. Love a good theme tune but I imagine the pool of dance remixes is pretty limited and many may come across as a bit novelty.

Dance by Definition for reasons previously stated.

TV Theme Tune Remixes cos that's an extremely small and probably mostly bad pool of possible entries.

Just cancel the whole thing xo #stillsalty
