December 9, 20231 yr I thought I might be the only voter for Gerry, so nice to see a couple of others and that I wasn't even the highest points awarder. That first album is so brilliant. Plan B definitely a forget for me oops!
December 9, 20231 yr Belter is my fav Gerry song! Plan B is a fantastic artist - Strickland Banks and Ill Manors are great albums!
December 10, 20231 yr Arrdee has great potential. I'm not that keen on his obvious sample hits like 'Flowers' but 'Oliver Twist' was great (especially as it highlighted his eccentric side) and 'Liquor and Cigarettes' definitely in my top 10 singles of the year..

December 10, 20231 yr Aww i’ve lost two in one go, Dermot and Alice! Dermot has been one of my faves of late
December 10, 20231 yr Technically School's Out is by the band "Alice Cooper"! His highest charting solo song was Poison, which reached #2.
December 10, 20231 yr Author Technically School's Out is by the band "Alice Cooper"! His highest charting solo song was Poison, which reached #2. Quite right- altered- thanks
December 10, 20231 yr Some greats starting to go out now! Alan Walker is seriously under-rated, it's a shame he doesn't have a few more big hits under his belt. 'Poison' is an 11/10 rock song, one of my all-times faves  in fact the whole of the 'Trash' album is brilliant! Never really got Nick Cave but ofc his duet with Kylie is nothing short of amazing  Jon Bon Jovi's solo stuff isn't quite up there with the Bon Jovi classics but I do really like his 'Destination Anywhere' album. Dermot Kennedy's doing great atm, hopefully he's still got a few more big hits ahead of him! Edited December 10, 20231 yr by Mangø
December 10, 20231 yr Poison is an iconic song I like but I don't think I know anything else from Alice Cooper. The dance fans (me and Cow P) are in minority here and I blame Dan for not voting in this. :P Alan Walker deserved better.
December 10, 20231 yr Yes for !!! voting Nick Cave too. 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' is fine and all, but my vote is almost entirely for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (technically a group but he's very much front and centre of it) and their 1997 album The Boatman's Call which is one of my absolute favourites of all time - my highlights of it are 'Into My Arms' 'People Ain't No Good' and '(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?' (Also some symmetry in that many of the album's songs stemmed from his relationship with PJ Harvey who was my 25 pointer in the female artists' rate.)
December 10, 20231 yr Not a lot I care for from today, Nelly has some bops (but his musical legacy is a bit tainted by his proximity to multiple Florida Georgia Line songs :P) and I like what I've heard from Nick Cave (& The Bad Seeds) but that's not a lot as his/their chart presence was always quite minimal and largely before my time - I do remember 'Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!' well from getting some nighttime Radio 1 spins at the time though and that's a tune. I'm happy for Alan Walker to be a one hit wonder as I'm not sure I particularly like anything I've heard from him  'Faded' is wildly overrated oop.
December 11, 20231 yr Both Alice Cooper and Jon Bon Jovi have some great songs for me. Agreed on the latters not quite being on the same level as Bon Jovi's material but still a fan! Alan Walker doesn't have much else I particularly care for but 'Faded' is still fab.

December 11, 20231 yr No huge losses there, Thom Yorke has some good solo stuff but nowhere near as good as Radiohead's stuff. Quite liked a few early James Morrison singles. Surprised that more people didn't vote for Stormzy tbh!
December 11, 20231 yr Never actually heard any solo Thom Yorke stuff despite being a massive Radiohead fan. For years were my favourite band.
December 11, 20231 yr M83 is a group - you can check it by just going to their Wikipedia page. Anthony Gonzalez might be the only member that's left from the original line up, but there have always been other musicians. It's kind of similar to Panic! at the Disco. I have never considered them as a solo artist even though the number of people in the group varies a lot. Edited December 11, 20231 yr by Sour Candy
